Course Curriculum

10

  • My course can be intense and demands work. My course is a mix of theory and practical
  • Positive aspect is that students are from diverse backgrounds, so we get new perspectives and ideas while brainstorming, and the negative aspect is that coursework is intense and fast, as it is a 1-year course
  • 1 class is scheduled in a day
  • A total of 25 students in my class
  • 3 Indian students (including me) are enrolled in my course

Admission Experience

  • I applied to 5 Universities :
    • Lancaster University - Accepted
    • Manchester Metropolitan University - Rejected
    • Essex University - Accepted
    • University of Strathclyde - Accepted
    • University of Law - Rejected
    • Heriot-Watt University - Accepted
  • After speaking to a decent number of alumni from each university through LinkedIn and comparing the rankings, accreditations, and standard of living. I decided to choose Lancaster University.
  • The factors that influenced my decision in choosing Lancaster University are: 1. Module 2. University Ranking 3. Accreditations 4. standard of living 5. reaching out and speaking to alumni through LinkedIn.
  • After careful research, I applied to the university through their official website, and the university was very responsive from day 1. Whenever I had any kind of doubt or got stuck, I emailed the university, and they replied very promptly.
    • October 2025 intake
    • The admission process took almost 2 Months.
  • After accepting the offer, I had to pay a deposit amount to lock in my admission, and then they sent me a CAS letter, which becomes an essential document to apply for my visa and also for immigration. After applying, they made me an offer within 20 working days, and then I was given almost 25 days to confirm and pay the deposit. Once I paid, within 25 days, I received my CAS letter within a few days.

Faculty

10

  • Lancaster University’s student-to-staff ratio is approximately 11:1. A lower faculty-to-student ratio normally means that it improves the quality of education and interaction between students and faculty by taking smaller classes, providing more personalized support, and stronger mentoring. The teaching methodology of the faculty is really professional and well planned.
  • Course content and teaching approach are never sufficient to the ever-evolving job market, no matter where you are. There is a separate careers department which guides and helps students by providing material, advice, and training for finding, applying, and clearing interviews.

Campus Life

10

  • Lancaster University in Bailrigg is located just south of Lancaster city centre, which houses the majority of teaching facilities, student accommodation, colleges, sports centres, and administrative offices.
  • The university has developed two more sites: the Health Innovation Campus, situated adjacent to Bailrigg, which focuses on advancing healthcare, medicine, and innovation through partnerships with businesses and providers; and Forrest Hills, a nearby venue set in natural surroundings that is used for conferences, leadership programmes, and outdoor events.
  • The university has an award-winning library and world-class sports facilities, and the University has a health centre on campus, which is a part of the NHS.

Part Time Jobs

  • From every class, approximately 2 students secure a teaching assistant position
  • They get paid anywhere between 12 to 14 pounds
  • There are limited on-campus jobs that have high competition - for example student ambassador role and the catering assistant role - they get paid around 12 pounds
  • The maximum hours of work allowed per week are 20
  • On-campus part-time jobs are competitive, but you can apply from India itself
  • Students typically earn around 12 pounds on an hourly basis in their part-time jobs, Part time jobs are competitive as the city is small but eventually they get a job if they are applying continuously, Students can make an profile on indeed and apply recruiters will reach out to them through calls/emails and schedule an in person/virtual interview according to the availability of students

Placement

6

  • I cannot say the accurate percentage of my batch as I have not graduated yet,
  • The average salary can be between 40 to 60 thousand pounds in a year.
  • There is no concept of campus recruitment or placements. Everything works on networking; there are company fairs where we can reach out to people representing their respective companies and talk about the opportunities available, and they guide students on the application process, and also the university careers team helps in notifying potential opportunities.
  • Almost all major companies, such as PwC, BCG, McKinsey, Bain, Deloitte, and OC&C, hire graduates
