What Students Say
Likes
- Good syllabus, had both practical and theoretical course.
- Good international exposure.
- It had a very good academic ranking and reputation
Dislikes
- The travel time to commute to the city and the campus if staying outside the campus.
- Not much more interaction with the course mates.
- Nothing much else to dislike from the college as, it was as any other college.
Course Curriculum
- Difficulty of course curriculum may differ based on the course. My course had a bit of difficulty as we had much to learn and coursework based on that. The coursework had both theoretical work and practical work too. As in the coursework the code need to be submitted and along with that a report also needs to be submitted as well.

Admission Experience
-
Admitted - Lancaster University
Applied - Durham University, Coventry university, University Of Sheffield, University of Birmingham, University of Bristol, Queen Mary University - London, Royal Holloway University of London. - My aim was always between Lancaster University, University of Birmingham and Queen Mary university. So when I got the offer I accepted it without any other thoughts.
- Reason for not Accepted may be due to Undergraduate grade.
- Another reason to choose this university is the syllabus for my course with both practical and theoretical coursework.
- The campus was excellent.
- Large ratio of International students.
- And it had a very good academic ranking and reputation.
- The application process was with an application form and the other necessary forms. such as SOP, LOR.
- As I had scored very good marks in English in both my 10th and 12th standard, my IELTS score was waived.
- I applied for the October intake in the University. The factors that influenced my decision as such was to improve my knowledge and explore new things to better myself. And one of the reasons was my fascination with the data and such I wanted to learn more about it and how to apply it in our life.
- The admission process was not much hassle. Applied on the March and the offer letter was received on last of April. And finishing all the process and confirmation of acceptance was received on last of July\
Faculty
- The faculty to student ration in my course would be around 40 : 1. This was quite fair as it allowed us to raise questions easily and get answers from them efficiently. the faculty was also open for any questions raised by students and cleared it.
- The teaching methodology of the faculty varied depending on the person and the nature of the course that they are teaching. for pure coding course there was a different approach and for the theory course they took a different approach and both were taken for some of the courses as well.
Campus Life
- There were nine colleges in the university. And only one campus is used for the postgraduate studies. The rest of the eight campuses are used for the undergraduate studies.
- Three of the colleges are located on the side of the main cluster. and the remaining colleges are located near the main cluster of buildings which consists of classrooms, lecture halls, research laboratories and the library.
- There is large area for sports and there is an excellent sports center with a great gym.
Part Time Jobs
- There are usually two to three teaching assistants based on the number of students in a class. If a student has great academic knowledge they are eligible for the teaching assistant position and the research assistants are usually who does higher studies in the university.
- The pay range will be either minimum wage or more based on the position they have.
- There are many students who do part time work while studying. They will earn on hourly basis only. and they will be paid minimum wages as stipulated by the government. and they can't be paid less than that. mostly people look for part time jobs in the supermarket or eateries. some work pay them more money that the minimum wage but that will be specified and require some specific skills.
Placement
- The full time opportunities are available in many of the major cities. There are opportunities available in smaller cities but not as much as the bigger ones and will vary based on the industry that we are working in.
- There are people who are working in British airways after graduating from the university. There will be many opportunities for networking as companies will conduct many events(speeches from industry professionals) monthly, depending on the companies.
Accommodation
- The accommodation I found was the campus accommodation. I chose it on the University website itself as I did not look for other accommodation as it was located far from the university.
- I chose a standard accommodation and it cost around 410 GBP per month. In that we were given individual rooms with shared bathroom and a common kitchen for 6 people.
- There were other accommodation options with private bathrooms as well with its appropriate price.
- As it was a University accommodation it was located inside the campus itself.
Exams
- Generally any one of the the English language exam like IELTS or TOEFL is required. But I was exempted from that as a result of my high English marks on my school curriculum.
- And based on different colleges they may require other exams as well.
- The documents which are necessary are Letter of Recommendation(LOR), Statement of Purpose(SOP), and such.
Fees
- Fees for Tuition - 24500 GBP
Accommodation - 410 GBP per month - The fees are charged based on the semester wise period. It was collected on three terms.
- Monthly expenses may vary based on our spending.
- Other expenses such as transportation, groceries and such may come up to 50 - 60 GBP per month. and this is a very conservative estimate. It may go up to 80 - 90 GBP also based on the location and other factors.
Scholarship
- No, I did not receive any scholarships for my studies.
- As far as my knowledge goes some of my batchmates did have a scholarship. And the amount they received differs for each person. Based on the nature of scholarship one person had a full scholarship and another one person had a partial amount.
- One guy received 10000 GBP per term. And mostly some of the people had their companies sponsor them for this course.
