Course Curriculum

10

  • Out of 10, I'd say 6 difficulty levels. It's mostly theoretical. But in seminars, we are often given a case study and made to analyse ourselves and discuss.
  • Semester 2, I have classes thrice a week. I'm a student rep and we put forward the suggestion that we have 2-3 classes per day except for one each day of the week because many students commute from far away and have part time jobs.
  • 108 students
  • Maybe 40-45 are Indian

Admission Experience

  • University of Manchester - Unconditional Offer
University of Warwick - Conditional Offer
University of Loughborough - Unconditional Offer with Scholarship 5000 pounds
University of Sheffield - Unconditional Offer
    University of Bath - Rejection
    Trinity College, Dublin - Rejection
  • Bath and Trinity probably did not accept me because of the high volume of applicants and maybe because I did not have a business background
  • The University of Manchester ranks really high in the UK and globally. The course modules and professors upon my research, deemed fit; contributing towards my future goals.
  • The admission process was seamless. A SOP, Passport, 12 grade certificate, prior work experience and an IELTS of 6.5 or above.
  • GMAT is not required. IELTS 6.5 and above.
  • No challenges as such. Very smooth process. Got my acceptance letter in a month.
  • Fall intake (September 2024)
  • I wanted to be fully prepared so I waited for the fall intake. It depends on course wise because most courses start in Fall.
  • I applied by end of December, maybe the 27th. I got an acceptance letter on February 9. Oh i forgot to mention they also require 2 Letter of recommendations. I gave one from my then employer and my thesis advisor from undergrad.

Faculty

8

  • My class is quite large - 108 students
  • There are lectures and seminars. Lectures with everyone. Seminars with a group of 25 students
  • The lectures are more detail oriented, using presentation slides, seminars are more group work and discussion focussed.
  • There is Jobclub that sits in the Students union building every Thursday 10-12pm helping students with their CV and part time jobs.
  • The careers service is also very helpful in this regard.
  • All help is provided, one just needs to seek it!

Campus Life

10

  • Two campuses: The Oxford Road area and Sackville Street area.
  • There's a hugeeee library having its own colour coded spaces, i's so cool, purple zone, red zone, green zone.
  • Sports facilities, name any sport, UoM has it. Although it is not in the university area but spread across Manchester.
  • As I said before, there's something happening everyday.
  • Social events almost every 2 days.
  • 532 kitchen and bar has a uni event almost every week.
  • Arcade takeovers, Pool, table tennis, everything.

Part Time Jobs

  • I am not sure about the first question.
  • Research Associate however would make around 37 -45k annually.
  • There are many on campus jobs available for students.
  • Roles like Marketing assistants for students union, careers services and administrative departments.
  • Hourly wages depend on the sector and the kind of role you are in. Could range from 11.5- 20 pounds per hour.
  • Maximum hours I don't think there is a specific number. But mostly students can do around 16 hours per week.
  • I haven't been working part time but most of my Indian friends work in grocery stores or warehouses. I have seen many Indians being servers in cafes and restaurants or fast food joints. It is not hard at all to be honest. You can search online or just ask at stores if they are hiring. Mostly asking at the spot works best but there are many sites that have it too.

Placement

8

  • I do not know if I have the information for this.
  • Average salary can range from 30k-80k per year.
  • There are many job recruiters that come to our campus and have a fair, that is the best way to get more info and interact and network.
  • the Careers service helps too. They have a search engine showing all prospects, jobs that may be eligible for us

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • Off campus. Near City centre.
  • I used UniAcco but I would advise students to simply go to the website of the accommodation site and book it directly because agencies take a fee of 100 pounds which is so not worth it.
  • 235 per week rent.
  • Getting uni accommodation is the best, it is way cheaper, starting around 150 i guess. It's best to stay there.

Exams

  • Just IELTS will do. But I think they accept TOEFL scores too.
  • GMAT and GRE are not required in the UK. That is one of the main reasons I chose to come here haha.
  • Documents: Passport, 12th certificate, SOP, 2 LORs, CV.
  • There was no interview. But I reckon different courses have different admission protocols. Engineering may have an interview. I am not quite sure to be honest.

Fees

  • Tuition- 35500
    Deposit -1000
  • Can be paid in 3 instalments one in September, one in February and one in May
  • I am in a student accommodation paying 235 pounds per week from Sep 7, 2024 - Sep 1, 2025
  • Monthly expenses depends on individuals
  • Bus fares are 2 pounds, 147 number bus is free for students
  • Groceries - monthly maybe 100-150
  • Depends if you order food and go out often
  • But i think monthly 250-300 is okay if you're going out once a month and strictly cooking your food

Scholarship

  • Yes, a 10000 pound scholarship is available but I did not receive it :(
  • I am not sure how many students get it but many people I know have got it. Depends course wise, the amount can range from 2500 - 10000
  • It is called the Bursary Scholarship Award. You need to write an essay for it, why you think you deserve it and all sorts.
  • That is all I know about scholarships.
