Course Curriculum
- It would be appropriate to say that my course curriculum is moderately difficult. All modules are a part of management science and lectures are more theoretical and some components are practical. Classes are fairly scheduled; some days there might be three sessions and for some days there will be only one session. In my class, there are almost fifty students and 15-20 of them are Indians.
Admission Experience
- I applied to around 12–13 colleges in the UK (some of which were in Northumbria, Hertfordshire, Salford, Birmingham, Roehampton, Kent, Bedfordshire, Plymouth, Coventry, and Brunel) and got admission from almost every one of them. My application was not rejected in any one of them. Only some colleges were asking for IELTS scores, which I did not have at the time.
- I chose this college because of its higher ranking when compared to other colleges i applied and this had almost the same tuition fee. The admissions process was very smooth and even if we had any issues, if raised by email, the college immediately responded and cleared up the concern the way we needed it. Once I accepted the offer, the college set us up with a pre-cas online questionnaire; after completion of that, everything else was taken care of. I didn't have any specific criteria for eligibility; scores from my schooling and undergrad were validated by the college. Overall, it was a very easy and smooth admission process.
- I applied to the September intake. My application stared in January and I got an offer around February. I paid my initial deposit in April and within a week, I was requested to complete the online questionnaire and was issued with my CAS shortly after. Then I moved on with my visa application in mid of May and the visa application was completed in 5 days. There was also an online registration before I left India.
Faculty
- My class has about fifty students and for each module there will be a lecturer and two or three seminar tutors. Since there is a very small proportion of students when compared to the previous year, which was around three hundred, lecturers and seminar tutors are able to spend a lot of quality time with students. Since the volume of the students is comparably less, they are usually also available for online meetings as well.
Campus Life
- My University has a main campus and a seperate campus for business school. The facilities include a library, sports center, medical services, and study areas. Major events include the Welcome Week, Leicester Festival of Music & Drama, and various student-run clubs and societies. Extracurricular activities include sports teams, cultural clubs, volunteering, and academic societies.
Part Time Jobs
- I do not know about the exact number of students securing teaching assistant, research assistant or departmental assistant positions. It can be difficult to be aware of the pay scale or range of these roles. Some on campus roles can include being a course rep and school rep. There are some students in the accommodation team as well. Maximum hours of work allowed for students is 20.
- Most students working in a part - time jobs earn from 12 - 15 GBP per hour. It is a moderately difficult task to secure a part-time job as a student especially with limited available work timings. But most can find a part time employment with decent effort in seraching jobs. After an online application, usually the employers invite for an interview. Performing that will take us to next step in fullfiling a role.
Placement
- I'm still unaware about the full - time employment opportunities especially after graduation. If a appropriate role is attained be a graduate as a full time employee, pay scale can range from 1500 GBP to 3000 GBP per month. Mostly students do a lot of volunteering, internships, observership before employement. Building online job profiles can also be very important.
Accommodation
- I live in a university-managed accommodation and I first came across it and applied for it through the university website. Monthly rents vary according to the type of rooms selected for stay, prices of which can be from 340 to 800 GBP for every month. Overall, the accommodation is very good. It is situated about a thirty-minute walk from the university but there is free transport available from accommodation to the university.
Exams
- I didn't have any exams as an eligibility criteria and I'm unaware if other students did have an eligibility exam. The documents required for my application process were aadhar, passport, work experience certificate, marksheets from schooling, marksheets, transcripts and degree certificates, and undergraduate curriculum vitae, a statement of purpose and a letter of recommendation from two references that came from my undergraduate principal and job company.
Fees
- My overall fees is approximately 18500 GBP, my university offers payments in two installments which has a first payment that includes seventy percent of total fees and the second installment is due after six months into the course which is the remaining thirty percent. In terms of monthly expenses in leicester, one can easily manage with 500-600 GBP per month. It is even possible to survive in a good state of life with 400 GBP as well.
Scholarship
- I received a scholarship of around 3000 GBP based on my scores from my undergraduate. Almost everyone with more than 70 percent score from undergraduates can avail of this scholarship. My batchmates are offered different scholarships. There are students with Commonwealth scholarships in my class. Roughly about forty to fifty percent of my classmates are offered a scholarship.
