Course Curriculum

8

  • The difficulty level of my course was advanced. Exams were easy but individual assignments were not. We had to do lots of reading and referencing. Everything was supposed to be critically thought and wrote.
  • Group assignments were fun, provided your team building skills and your group. The inly negative aspects of my course were less real-life exposure and more theory rest everything was good. My class consisted of around 90 people and more than half of them were Indians. There were almost 5-6 classes in a week.

Admission Experience

  • I applied to Kingston University, Coventry University, Liverpool University, Brunel University, Manchester Metropolitan University, Oxford brooks and Aston University. I got selected everywhere nut chose Liverpool. I didn't receive any rejection as I didn't give them any documents for an unconditional offer letter. I also didn't get waitlisted anywhere.
  • Liverpool university is a Russel group university which is highly ranked and reputed. I had to submit SOPs, LORs, CV, admission form and academic documents for conditional offer letter. Then I submitted remaining academic documents for unconditional offer letter. Upon receiving the same, they provide CAS number and statement with the help of which we get a student visa. IELTS is an exam I gave; we can also have a waiver for it. The admission process was smooth from their side.
  • I applied for September 2023 intake. September is the main intake where lots o students go and prefer, there are more part time jobs opportunities. Also, UoL had no Jan intake for my course and I didn't want to waste my year. The admission process takes round about 3-4 months. I applied in June, got my conditional offer letter in July and unconditional offer letter in August and visa in September.

Faculty

8

  • For each module we had 2-3 module leaders or professors. The teaching was more of a lecture based and then a seminar-based session where we used to use the knowledge gained in the lecture in the seminars.
  • In my opinion, this doesn't help much in real lie but is very helpful to learn new things.  The faculty is very helpful are open to assist you anytime. There were professors who refused to spoon-feed the students which made us grow professionally but some who did everything to help us which became our morale support.

Campus Life

10

  • Liverpool university is very lively and a happening university. There are lots of events for you to participate in. There are 2 libraries, Sydney Jones being one of the biggest one. We also have a gym, swimming pool and a garden.
  • There are events such as board games, sporting events, music, dance, coffee mornings, etc.
  • University of Liverpool is a very huge university, every department has its own different campus. For example, University of Liverpool management school was located on Oxford Street.

Part Time Jobs

  • From my course, very less students get Teaching Assistant (TA), Research Assistant (RA), or Departmental Assistant (DA) positions. On the campus, students can work in cafes, bars, the guild or residents advisor. The hourly rate depends on the government and jobs. For international students, it is difficult to find a job unless you want to expand your horizons and are ready to do anything. There are jobs in bars, restaurants, warehouses, schools, etc.
  • We had part time job fairs. There are also a few opportunities on campus. The hourly wage depends on the age of the individual. For international students, only 20 hours per week is allowed for part time.   For international students, it is difficult to find a job unless you want to expand your horizons and are ready to do anything. There are jobs in bars, restaurants, warehouses, schools, etc.

Placement

4

  • For international students, it is extremely difficult to find a job. You need lots of patience, hard work and willpower to do so. The salary range depends on the job, role and age. Students find jobs via job portals and referrals.
  • There is no concept as placements in the UK unless specified. Out of around 50 Indian students, only 3 have a full-time job in their fields.

Accommodation

Off Campus
6

  • I found my accommodation with the help of an agency. They gather your requirements, budget and preferences and accordingly suggest you some places. I would rather suggest searching an accommodation for yourself. Off-campus accommodations are way cheaper than on-campus. My accommodation was 5 mins walk from my university.
  • The monthly rent was 480 £ approximately but it was not that worth. Choose your accommodation very wisely, it will determine your entire year.

Exams

  • The exams defer from course to course, moreover for my course, I had to appear in IELTS only. The documents required are passport, LOR, SOP, Academic documents such as transcripts, degree certificate, ID proof, IELTS marksheet, CV, etc.
  • We had no interview process for my course. However, in some courses, interviews are mandatory and an integral part of process.

Fees

  • The total tuition fees were 24300£. Accommodation charges were different and not included in this. I received 2 scholarships- Commonwealth and vice-chancellors.
  • My monthly expenses including rent were almost 500£. You can pay the fees in 2 instalments- 60% and 40%. If you need more time or any help, the university helps you. There is a specialised team for that.

Scholarship

  • I received 2 scholarships- Commonwealth and vice-chancellors. The total amounted to 5000£. The commonwealth scholarship is awarded to commonwealth citizens, and the vice chancellors are awarded to the people with good academic marks and scores.
  • You need to submit your academic documents and LORs from professors to get this scholarship. All of my Indian classmates received commonwealth but only few received the vice chancellors.
