Colleges Where I Was Accepted

Reason for choosing my college

  • I chose Oxford Brookes university over other universities because of it's strong reputation in digital marketing industry focused curriculum and emphasis on practical learning. The university's connections with global businesses provided excellent networking and internship opportunities.
  • The diverse and inclusive environment made it an ideal place for personal and professional growth. Additionally, the faculty's expertise and the university's modern resources ensured a hands-on learning experience. It wasn't just about rankings; it was about finding the place where I could really learn a lot.

Colleges Where I Was Rejected

Reason for Rejection

  • I couldn't get into Manchester University, and while it was disappointing at first, I took it as a learning experience. The competition was tough, and maybe my application lacked certain elements they were looking for. Whether it was grades, experience, or just the number of applicants, I missed out. But instead of holding a grudge on it, I focused on finding the right alternative.
  • Oxford Brookes turned out to be a great choice, offering a strong curriculum and industry connection where I could really learn from and get more hands-on experience.

Tips to enhance your application

  • First, you should upload all the necessary documents required by the university. They really don't ask for a CV but you should include one because you can know a lot about a person from the CV.
  • Personally, I would suggest including as much certification as you can so that the university could understand you have a lot on the plate and the process really smoothens for you.

Admission Experience

  • The UK is the country where you can get really great exposure. There are a lot of universities over there and the opportunities are really great. Oxford Brookes has a really great global ranking and they offer hands-on experience over anything else. Location-wise, Oxford is kind of expensive to live in, but it is all worth it at the end.
  • A whole lot of career opportunities in the UK. Student life is the best in Oxford. There are a lot of activities happening almost every month at the university but also to mention the coursework is a bit on the hard side at Oxford Brookes.

Class Schedule

9

  • There are almost 4 classes in a week; it actually depends on the course. Classes are between morning 8 and evening 7. It depends. Classes are 2 hours long but there is also a 1-hour-long lecture. 60% of students were Indian.
  • To be very honest, course work is really hard in Oxford Brookes University and if you can't commit at least 2 more hours every day for your course work, life can easily become really hard.

Faculty

10

  • There were almost 16 faculty members, each teaching different modules or helping you out at every level. I would like to praise my DMA module leader and also my dissertation supervisor. They really helped me a lot on the journey.
  • From day one, they will guide you and you can ask anything to them, be it course work-related or personal I have never met such supportive faculty in my academic career. Yes, faculty can help you get full-time or part-time job. My supervisor helped me getting the part-time job I did while I was in Oxford.

Campus Life

10

  • There are 2 main campuses for Oxford Brookes University. One is Headington, the main campus, and the second is Harcourt Hill, but they are shifting to Headington in 2025. Every single facility is available at the university, be it a sports centre or swimming pool.
  • One popular fest would be Brookes Union Fest. This is the biggest fest and also you get to attend career fairs and a lot of fun activities. They regularly take you to different historical places also.

Part Time Jobs

  • On average, you get paid 11 pounds an hour. Getting a job can be easy; make sure you talk with the seniors; they can refer you to their workplace.
  • Referral is the key to getting a part-time job in the UK. If you can secure a referral, it becomes really easy to secure a job in the UK. You can visit the company's website and apply but I would suggest printing out your CV and going to retail shops; you can easily get a job if you directly approach them.
  • For universities own jobs, it's kind of hard to get, but the pay rate is also great; you can get 12 pounds an hour easily if you can secure university-owned jobs. But I would rather suggest looking for jobs in retail; you can get a job fairly easily in Oxford but make sure from the day you land to start looking for a job because after a few months the competition get's really hard.
  • You can expect a pay rate on average of 11 pounds an hour. Students can work 20 hours per week and can work full time in the holiday season but make sure you don't breach the 20-hour visa rule.

Placement

6

  • To be very honest, getting a full-time job in the UK is really hard. Around 10% of students secure jobs within 6 months. The average salary range is 22000 pounds to 50000 pounds but it becomes really hard to secure the job because of your visa status.
  • You can look for jobs on LinkedIn and company websites but try to get referrals. The highest salary you can expect is 30000 as a fresher but can easily go up to 50000 pounds.
