Course Curriculum

10

  • Definitely the course was difficult which is why you get to learn more and if you are from India it is difficult to gel up with the new country, new university and a new academic culture. But the courses are more challenging and fun and it builds your knowledge and skills.
  • The other students too are from different countries and backgrounds which again is a good experience.
  • The university uses advanced teaching methods and provides you with all the necessary study materials along with extra knowledge on the portals they provide

Admission Experience

  • I applied in 3 University in UK. University of Leeds, University of Southampton and University of Glasgow. I got shortlisted for Leeds and Southampton and was rejected from Glasgow. The reason for not getting accepted from Glasgow was unclear, but it could be not meeting there admission requirements or scores in graduation and IELTS examination or not been able to outstand other candidates you applied
  • The reason I chose the University of Leeds was it was offering the course I was looking for and it was ranked 80th in World QS Ranking. And i was aiming to study in UK since the degree was of 1 year. The admission process was easy and a consultant helped me out during the entire process. Other than Academic scores, SOP, LOR and IELTS examination was required.
  • I went for Sept 2016 intake. This was because I graduated in the year 2015, and I went for working with HP Bangalore and in the mean time I was exploring all the university to go for. So in May 2016 i applied to universities in UK as mentioned earlier and got accepted by June and completed my visa process by August. It does usually take 6 months to complete the entire process.

Class Schedule

10

  • There were usually 3-4 classes at max scheduled in a day but sometimes you get to attend only 1 also depending entirely upon the course you have taken and how the professor plan the lectures.
  • All the faculty members were amazing and it was wonderful interacting with them.
  • The average number of students were 80-90 depending on the module. And you get to see a lot of indians too so you don't have to worry about finding friends from your home country.

Campus Life

10

  • The University has multiple campus for each department with great infrastructure and classrooms.
  • There were multiple libraries in and around university premises, beautifully designed and built and you can spend entire day in it.
  • The student unions keeps organising multiple fests and events and you get to eat pizza for free.
  • They also have multiple clubs and sports activities so you can participate in them and have great time with the people

Part Time Jobs

  • This is all dependent on the University requirements and it involves a lot of process to secure the assistant position. However i was not involved in it so I won't be able to provide much information. But if you can manage your studies and project work and the assistant position its great experience but it does get a little hectic and you don't get to get involved in other activities and there are lot of academic work to be done. Other on campus jobs are available on the University websites and you are allowed to work 20 hrs a week.
  • There is no preference as such among the Indian students as you are allowed only 20hrs per week to work part time so it depends whether you want to work complete 20hrs or less than that and how you will be able to manage the job with the studies.
  • There are lot of options to work part time around the city and you get paid well also ranging from £5 to £20 per hour. It can be more than that too. And its not difficult to find part time .. you just have to explore the city and see where u can work.

Placement

6

  • So the university keeps organising job fair event where a lot of companies from different sectors comes together and provide the details for job opportunities after graduation.
  • You can interact with them and share your resume at the same time. Other than that you have to keep applying to jobs during the master's program as it dose take a lot of time to find a sponsored job

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I took the university accommodation which was of 5 mins walk from the University but it was Little expensive. And it was easy to find the accommodation on the website itself which provide all the details.
  • Other than that there are housing agencies which are available online to find a good accommodation and more cheaper price than that of university hostel

Exams

  • For the UK you only require IELTS. Other than IELTS score you need all your academic marksheets, resume, cover letter.
  • LOR and SOPs. And then you have to prepare for your visa process which requires your university acceptance letter, CAS certificate and Medical test report.
  • Other than that the university provides you with all the required documents and if you have a consultant, they provide you and make the entire process easier

Fees

  • Since I graduated in 2017 my entire expenses for 1 year degree was around 30lacs including hostel fees and tuition fess and living expenses. And also you get to work part times during the education so you can earn extra.
  • The fees was semester wise. Monthly expenses will not cross more than £1000 if you are wise in spending. Other than that you get to stya in uni hostels which are little expensive but you can opt to stay outside and there are good number of cheaper options.

Scholarship

  • It is listed on the University website for waiver and scholarship.
  • You can keep checking on the websites of the respective universities for scholarship and waivers and get in contact with them. They do provide scholarship.
  • I don't know what is the current scenario as its been 6-7 years that I have graduated. But yes there is a system for students to get British scholarship.
