Tips to enhance your application

Write a good and elaborated SOP which includes all your achievements, skills and qualities. A strong introduction is must to give a good impression for a reader. The CV should be like a sententia which gives a overall experience you had. Also include the internship, if did in the curriculum and if participated in technical and non-technical events add those as well includes what learned from there and what they helped in the career.

Admission Experience

The reason for choosing the UK is because of the research-oriented study programs and the academic reputation the country and the university have. I got two majors in my course: structure engineering and concrete materials. The city is good and has a lot of part-time job opportunities. The overall experience is so good. I would recommend this university to everyone.

Class Schedule

10

12- 13 classes in a week, starting from Monday at 9:30 in the morning, and the duration is 2 hours. We also had a laboratory, which extended to 3 hours, but they were the best time spent. The average strength varied from module to module. I was the only Indian in the class, which gave me a lot of advantages, and I became a class representative as well.

Faculty

10

  • 1:3 was the faculty-to-student ratio, and approachability is so easy and quick. Need to email, and they will give me a time slot. Go and clear your doubts.
  • My Favourite was Dr. Moray Newland because he was the one with whom I interacted first and was so welcoming towards everyone. Yes, they do help and support in getting jobs and give their references and also suggest where to work and where not.

Campus Life

10

  • Only one campus, but it was huge because of the variety of courses. A beautiful and huge library and a lot of sports areas, gym, swimming pool and whatnot. Medical was the best and easiest to access.
  • A student helping union was my favourite place, which helps all students to get things such as part-time jobs, accommodations, and fun events dates. If you have any passion, such as music, drama, dance or other, you can be a part of any community.

Part Time Jobs

It depends upon the age but you get a fair amount such as 7 pounds per hour. And part-time jobs are very easy to find there. Just drop a CV to places such as coffee shops, general stores, restaurants and other stores and if they have vacancies they will contact you on their own.

  • There are a lot of opportunities outside and inside campus. It is like first come, first serve. Students can easily get on-campus jobs; they just need a reference, and almost everyone can get jobs, pay is higher than off-campus, typically 8 pounds or more.
  • Internships are easy to find, there is a career building over there that helps with CVs, Cover letters and interviews, the internship is higher, around 20 pounds per hour.
  • Maximum working hours during academics is 20 hours per week, and on vacation, 40 hours per week.

Placement

10

Did not get the chance because of COVID-19 but have a lot of opportunities and can get a job during my studies only. The average salary was 30,000 pounds. Career centre helps students to get jobs. The lowest is 25000 pounds and the highest is 32000 pounds.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

University helped me a lot, they have a list of trusted people which provides accommodation. I got more than 100 contact numbers from there but apart from that there are a lot of other websites such as downfieldproperty and Gumtree.
