Imperial College Business School sits in South Kensington, London, as the postgraduate management school of Imperial College London. The parent university ranked #2 in the QS World University Rankings 2027, and this brand recognition anchors how Indian recruiters and lenders read every degree the Business School awards.
Imperial Business School runs no undergraduate programmes; the portfolio covers a 12-month Full-Time MBA, an Executive MBA, a Global Online MBA and 14 specialist MSc degrees across Finance, Management, Marketing, Analytics and Climate. All teaching is in English, and September is the sole entry point for the MBA plus most MSc cohorts. Indian students form one of the largest single-nationality groups in the MSc classes, with heavy representation on the Finance, Business Analytics and Management programmes.
- QS Global Online MBA 2026: #1 in the world
- Acceptance rate: 15% to 25% (estimated across MBA and MSc programmes)

A non-refundable deposit of £7,800 for the MBA and £6,500 for every MSc secures the offer and counts toward total tuition. The Global Online MBA, Executive MBA and specialist MSc programmes such as MSc Climate Change, Management and Finance and MSc Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management sit outside this shortlist; confirm those tuition rates on the official Imperial fee schedule.
Insider note: Indian applicants cluster heavily on the three highest-fee MSc programmes because their placement lists into London banking and consulting are the strongest, so the £51,000 tickets are chosen far more often than the cheaper Management or Marketing tracks.

Imperial College Business School MSc Deadlines September 2027 Intake
MSc rounds run in parallel to the MBA rounds and use rolling review. Exact per-programme dates vary; Indian applicants should read the deadline table for their target MSc on the Imperial admissions page rather than assume MBA dates apply. Parent institution requirements are consolidated on the Imperial College London profile.
Planning note: WES or NARIC credential verification for Indian bachelor’s degrees takes 4 to 6 weeks in peak season, so start the transcript request the moment you decide to apply rather than at offer stage.

Imperial College Business School Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Imperial College Business School reads Indian bachelor’s degrees on a scale roughly aligned with UK second-class honours, and the Business School publishes a Higher English requirement across every programme.
Imperial College Business School Postgraduate Requirements for Indian Students
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree with 60% or CGPA 6.5 out of 10 for MSc Management, MSc Marketing and MSc Business Analytics; 65% or CGPA 7.0 out of 10 (recommended) for MSc Finance, MSc Finance and Accounting and MSc Financial Technology.
- English (Higher requirement): IELTS Academic 7.0 overall with 6.5 in each element; TOEFL iBT 100 overall with 22 in each section on the legacy 0-120 scale, or 5.0 overall with 5.0 in each band on the new 1-6 scale for tests taken from 21 January 2026; Duolingo English Test 125 overall with 115 minimum in each band.
- MBA-specific: Minimum 3 years of full-time work experience and a valid GMAT Focus or GRE score, benchmarked against a class average close to GMAT 680.
- Credential verification: Indian applicants submit consolidated marksheets and provisional or final degree certificate; WES verification is not compulsory but is strongly preferred for offer acceleration.
Test benchmarks above are the Business School minimums; competitive Indian profiles typically sit 5-10 points higher on GMAT and half a band higher on IELTS relative to comparable MBA universities in UK.
Key insight: Imperial waives IELTS only when the applicant holds a full bachelor’s degree taught in English from a recognised English-medium country; Indian English-medium bachelor’s degrees do not qualify for a blanket waiver and a formal English test remains mandatory.
Imperial College Business School Acceptance Rate 2027
Imperial College Business School does not publish an official acceptance rate for any of its programmes. Third-party estimates put the Full-Time MBA rate at 15% to 25% (estimated), and the flagship MSc Finance and MSc Business Analytics cohorts screen at a similar intensity because applicant volumes from India are the highest across the portfolio.
Selection is stronger in earlier rounds when the class is unfilled, and the score bands rise noticeably by Round 3 as seats compress. Indian candidates applying with GMAT 700 or above and a first-class bachelor’s continue to convert at a materially higher rate than the pool average.
Reality check: Imperial Business School reads work experience and quantitative aptitude harder than raw academic marks; a strong bachelor’s with two internships and a 700 GMAT will out-convert a higher CGPA with weaker professional evidence.

Imperial College Business School Campus, Facilities and Student Life
Imperial Business School sits inside the Imperial College London South Kensington campus in central London, a five-minute walk from three Piccadilly, Circle and District line stations.
- Location and transport: The Business School occupies its own Tanaka Building on Exhibition Road, next to Hyde Park and the V&A Museum, with TfL Zone 1 access placing every major London recruiter within a 30-minute commute.
- Housing: Imperial guarantees postgraduate accommodation only in limited pools; most Indian students book Woodward, GradPad or private halls in Earl’s Court, Elephant & Castle or Wembley through the university’s approved provider list.
- Facilities: Bloomberg Trading Room with 30 live terminals, the Innovation Hub for startup teams, dedicated MBA and MSc study lounges and the Central Library across all Imperial faculties.
- Indian community: The Imperial Indian Society and the Business School’s India Interest Group run recruiter talks, Diwali and Holi events and finance-track career workshops during term.
What Indian students say: The cohort is genuinely global and non-clique, teaching intensity is high with heavy group-project weight, and the London recruiter pipeline compensates for the tight housing budget and pace of the 12-month calendar.
Imperial College Business School Scholarships 2027

[Source: Imperial College Business School official scholarship pages, 2026 entry]
External funding recognised by the Business School includes Chevening (subject to the £22,000 course-tuition cap that Indian applicants must top up), Commonwealth Scholarships and Indian trusts like J. N. Tata Endowment and Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation. Parent-university awards are separately listed under Imperial College London scholarships.
Planning note: Scholarship pools are decided after each round, so a strong Round 1 application on the MBA (deadline 22 September 2026) or an early MSc submission materially increases funding odds compared with a stronger profile submitted in Round 3.

Imperial College Business School Rankings 2027
Imperial Business School is a school within Imperial College London and therefore does not carry a standalone QS or THE World University Rank; those rankings are awarded to the parent institution, which sits at #2 in QS World 2027 and #8 in THE World 2026. The Business School itself is ranked by QS, Financial Times, Bloomberg and Corporate Knights on programme-specific tables, and its Global Online MBA is the world #1 in QS 2026.

The QS Global Online MBA #1 title has been held by Imperial for multiple years and is the single most-cited rank in Indian recruiter panels, while the FT MBA rank stays inside the global top 40 and the top 15 in Europe. Parent-institution rank movement over three cycles is tracked on the Imperial College London Rankings page.
Key insight: UK Graduate Route eligibility and Indian lender panels use the parent Imperial College London rank, so an Imperial Business School degree carries the same #2 QS World brand weight as a Faculty of Engineering degree for loan and visa purposes.

Imperial College Business School vs Peer Universities
Peer comparison below sets Imperial Business School against the UK, European and Indian b-schools that Indian applicants most often cross-shop, on Full-Time MBA rank and headline PG cost.

| Imperial College Business School | #39 global | £78,000 (₹100.3 lakh) | QS Global Online MBA #1; STEM-heavy parent brand |

[Source: Financial Times Global MBA Ranking 2026; peer fee cells are market estimates for 2026 entry]
Imperial Business School’s edge sits in the STEM-heavy Imperial parent brand and the world #1 Global Online MBA, which combine to make it the strongest UK choice for Indian applicants targeting technology, analytics and finance careers. Peers such as London Business School and HEC Paris outrank Imperial on FT MBA, but ticket cost and 2-year length shift the ROI calculus for many Indian candidates.
Imperial Business School Verdict for Indian Students
Imperial Business School fits Indian applicants targeting the London banking, consulting or analytics market who can absorb a total 12-month investment of roughly ₹100 lakh to ₹135 lakh against a reported MBA salary near ₹99 lakh, and the STEM-brand Graduate Route pathway is the single strongest advantage on the shortlist.
It is not the right choice for applicants prioritising a longer 2-year MBA calendar, a lower ticket size or a stronger US recruiter network; those profiles are typically better served by ISB, INSEAD or a US STEM-designated MSBA.
Imperial College Business School FAQs
Ques. Can Indian students apply to Imperial Business School without a GMAT score?
Ans. The Full-Time MBA and Executive MBA require GMAT Focus or GRE with no blanket waiver, and Indian applicants are expected to submit a valid score. Most MSc programmes at Imperial Business School do not require GMAT or GRE, though a strong quantitative score materially strengthens applications to MSc Finance, MSc Finance and Accounting and MSc Business Analytics. Applicants should confirm the current test policy on the target programme’s admission page.
Ques. How long is the post-study work visa after graduating from Imperial College Business School?
Ans. Graduates of Imperial Business School use the UK Graduate Route, which allows 2 years of full-time work in the UK after a bachelor’s or master’s degree and 3 years after a PhD. The route requires no employer sponsorship and no minimum salary, and it starts on the date the university confirms course completion to the Home Office. Indian graduates typically transition to a Skilled Worker visa before the 2-year window closes.
Ques. Does Imperial Business School waive IELTS for Indian English-medium bachelor’s graduates?
Ans. Imperial Business School does not offer a blanket IELTS waiver for Indian applicants, regardless of the medium of instruction of the bachelor’s degree. A waiver is available only when the applicant holds a full degree taught in English from a recognised majority-English-speaking country listed by UKVI. Indian applicants therefore need a valid IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT or Duolingo English Test that meets the Higher requirement bands.
Ques. What is the application fee for Imperial College Business School programmes?
Ans. Imperial Business School charges an application fee for each Full-Time MBA, MSc and Executive MBA application, currently set at £75 per submission. The fee is payable when the online application is submitted and is not refundable. Fee waivers are available for a small number of scholarship applicants and for candidates from partner outreach programmes. Indian applicants should budget the fee separately from the tuition deposit.
Ques. Does Imperial Business School offer a part-time or online MBA for Indian working professionals?
Ans. Imperial Business School runs a Global Online MBA and a Weekend Executive MBA in addition to the London-based Full-Time MBA. The Global Online MBA is ranked #1 in the world in the QS Global Online MBA Rankings 2026 and can be completed while continuing full-time employment in India. Indian applicants use these two routes when they cannot relocate to London for 12 months of on-campus study.
Ques. Which Indian education lenders recognise Imperial Business School for loans?
Ans. Imperial College London and by extension Imperial Business School sit on the recognised list of every major Indian education lender, including HDFC Credila, SBI Global Ed-Vantage, Bank of Baroda, Avanse, Auxilo, Prodigy Finance and MPOWER Financing. Unsecured loans of up to ₹75 lakh are commonly approved for Imperial admits, and collateralised loans typically cover the full ticket. Loan sanction letters are usually issued within 2 to 3 weeks of a confirmed offer.
Ques. How does Imperial Business School evaluate Indian bachelor’s degree grades for admission?
Ans. Imperial Business School reads a first-class Indian bachelor’s degree of 60% and above, or CGPA 6.5 out of 10, as broadly equivalent to a UK upper second-class honours degree, which is the baseline requirement across MSc programmes. MSc Finance, MSc Finance and Accounting and MSc Financial Technology cohorts typically admit closer to a 65% or CGPA 7.0 profile. Applicants from top IITs, NITs and IIMs are read on their institutional standing rather than a strict percentage cut-off.
Ques. Can Indian applicants defer an Imperial Business School offer to the following intake?
Ans. Imperial Business School considers deferral requests on a case-by-case basis for both MBA and MSc offers, and the decision rests with the admissions committee. Approved deferrals are almost always limited to one intake year, and the deposit paid to hold the current offer is carried forward. Indian applicants citing visa delays, family or medical reasons typically receive favourable review provided the request is submitted before the enrolment cut-off.
