University of Sunderland admissions are now open for undergraduate and postgraduate programs starting in September 2026. Undergraduate applicants must apply via UCAS, while postgraduate applicants must apply directly to the university. Although most master’s programs remain open year-round, it is strongly recommended to submit applications at least 6 months before the course start date to ensure timely processing and availability. Undergraduate applicants must apply by the UCAS deadlines. The university has an overall estimated acceptance rate of around 64%.

Indian students applying to the University of Sunderland must meet specific academic and English language requirements. Postgraduate courses generally require a 3-4 year bachelor's degree from a UGC/ AICTE-recognized university with 57–60% marks. For undergraduate programs, a minimum of 65% in Class 12 (CBSE, ICSE, or State Boards) is needed. Students without a Class 12 certificate can apply with a 3-year diploma or a Senior School Certificate with 60%.

Alongside, an IELTS score of 6.0 is mandatory for undergraduate and 6.5 for postgraduate admissions. Additional documents include academic transcripts, a personal statement, reference letters (for PG), a valid passport copy, and work experience, where applicable.

Overview

My teacher at the college suggested this university for me. I knew that teachers were helpful, and because when I was young I had many difficulties succeeding with my studies, I thought that I should choose a university that was not too demanding and supportive. When I started at the University of Sunderland in London, I was impressed by the various activities the institution offered. Also, the university has many departments for students to help them with various enquiries and assistance. For example, one of them is the department of health and well-being. The university engages in many activities such as conferences, trips, and events. Many societies organised by students with the help of the university deliver many activities that provide a better social environment. In fact, the tourism and travel society organises trips for students across the UK and abroad. Also, sports societies are available at the university, such as a dance club, swimming, football, and more, for active students. So far, being a student at the University of Sunderland in London has been a unique experience! The institution collaborates with the University of Sunderland in Hong Kong. The university is definitely multicultural. I made many friends, starting from Indians and Asians to Europeans, Africans, and South Americans. There are many employment events where students can meet potential employers for opportunities such as internships and work experience with important companies.
