Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course primarily because of the industry demand, but the way the curriculum is handled is a bit of a mixed bag. While the subjects themselves are relevant for real-world applications, the way they are taught often feels outdated. There is a heavy focus on theory, which doesn't always prepare you for the practical challenges you face during internships or in further academic pursuits. If I were to suggest improvements, I’d definitely point toward the course curriculum and teaching methods. We need more hands-on lab sessions and industry-linked projects instead of just lectures. The faculty-to-student ratio of 60:1 makes it hard to get personalized guidance, and the teaching style needs to move away from rote learning. Regarding the exams, we have mid-term assessments followed by the final semester exams. While the frequency is manageable, the timing can be stressful as the schedule is often tight. In my perspective, the difficulty level is moderate, but the real challenge lies in the evaluation. Since some staff members correct papers with a mindset that seems intended to fail students, it makes the whole process feel more like a hurdle to clear rather than a true test of what we've learned.
Placement Experience
- From semester 7 - There's alot of companies with Amazon being one of them - Highest is amazon with 42.1LPA - about 60 that apply to placements but mostly in low paying companies - Go work and then do higher studies later if I feel like it
Fees and Financial Aid
Since I didn’t get any scholarships, I’m paying the full standard rate. My 1st-year fees came to ?3.25 Lakhs, which included the one-time admission fee, registration, and a refundable caution deposit. For the rest of the years, it’s ?2.75 Lakhs annually, making the total course fee ?11.5 Lakhs. Usually, the tuition stays the same, but keep in mind that coming faster is cheaper.
Campus Life
- Technosummoy, culturals etc... around June July and February - Not very much is available - There's a projector but they don't make good use of it - There's not much extracurricular activities available, anything that costs the university money is generally not available - There are many clubs but they don't have much impact on student life
Hostel Facilities
- i paid for ac room but that was an entire lakh extra just for ac - the plumbing is bad - food is bad - quality of room and food is bad - not affordable or worth it - i instead rented a house behind college for way cheaper with more flexibility and freedom
Admission
I chose this college mainly because of the industry demand and the placement opportunities, which felt more reliable here compared to the other options I was looking at. When I compared it with the other colleges I applied to, this one had a better reputation for campus recruitment in my specific field. I did apply to a few top-tier institutions where I didn't get in, mostly because the cutoffs were incredibly high that year. I missed out by just a few marks in the entrance exams, which was frustrating, but it led me here. The Admission Process: The process was actually pretty smooth. To be eligible, you usually need at least 60% in your boards (PCM). While the college accepts JEE Main scores, most students including myself prefer taking the college's own entrance exam. The cutoffs for the top branches like CSE are always high, so you have to rank well to get your first choice. Overall, the admission experience was well-organized; once the results were out, we just had a counseling session to lock in our seats.
Faculty
Our college has a faculty-to-student ratio of 60:1, which often makes the environment feel quite crowded. Generally speaking, the professors aren't very approachable; many of them have a short temper, so you have to be careful when asking questions or seeking extra help. One exception is Kamalesh Sir, who is definitely the best faculty member I’ve had. I liked him because he actually encourages practical learning and real-world application rather than just forcing us to mug up theory from a textbook. As for the faculty I didn’t like, I’d rather not list their names, but the main issue is their rigid teaching style and lack of patience. The exam system consists of mid-terms and finals which are moderately difficult in terms of the questions asked. However, the marking scheme can be frustrating. Some staff members seem to correct papers with the intention of failing students rather than assessing their actual knowledge. While the course curriculum is relatively relevant to the industry, the high pressure and strict evaluation mean a significant number of students struggle to clear their papers on the first attempt.
Night Life
- there's a gym and library but at night all of them are closed and students aren't allowed out and theyre locked inside hostel after dinner - 4pm snacks and 7pm dinner, 1 hour of freedom time - nothing really
