Course Curriculum Overview
The course is very modern and follows a credit system. You pick subjects like AI or Cloud to match your goals. This choice was key to picking this path. The labs help with real tasks, but more live coding and soft skill training would be better. Most teachers use slides, which some find dull. Exams happen every six weeks. You have two mid-term tests and one final test. The difficulty is fair. If you attend labs, you will likely pass. The marking is based on the class average. This keeps the pace fast but the workload okay.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities at SRM AP are quite strong, with a high focus on technical and research roles. Most students land summer internships for 6–8 weeks after their 2nd year, while 3rd-year students can go for longer 6-month stints. These are often paid, with a common monthly stipend ranging from ?15,000 to ?40,000. Top students have even bagged offers from PayPal with a stipend of ?1 Lakh per month. Key Companies and Roles Many big names visit the campus for these roles. Microsoft and Google often hire for Software Engineering roles. Maersk offers a long-term program in Network Engineering with a ?50,000 stipend. Other firms like Amazon, Adobe, and Fission Labs also hire for roles in Data Science and Cloud Computing. These roles often lead to a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) if you perform well.
Placement Experience
The placement drive at SRM AP is robust, with students becoming eligible from the 6th semester (end of 3rd year). The university maintains a strong record, especially in tech branches like CSE, which frequently sees a 100% placement rate. Over 850 companies visit the campus, including global giants like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and TCS. In the recent 2025-2026 cycle, the highest package reached 50 Lakhs, while the average package for the batch was around 9.5 Lakhs. Many students receive Super Dream Offers (above 20 Lakhs) or Marquee Offers from firms like PayPal and Adobe. While most graduates aim for high-paying roles in Software Dev or Data Science, a good number also choose Higher Studies in the US or Europe. The college provides dedicated training in coding and soft skills to ensure high employability. After my degree, I plan to work in AI research or join a top tech firm to gain industry skills.
Fees and Financial Aid
SRM AP fees for B.Tech are around 3.6 Lakhs per year for CSE. You also pay a 10,000 fee for entry and 5,000 for caution. The total cost for four years can reach 18 Lakhs. This covers the labs and the library. Most fees stay the same for your batch, but the mess and room costs may rise each year. Top students get the Founder Scholarship for a full waiver. Others get 25% to 75% off based on test ranks. Those with low income and high grades get the Merit-cum-Need aid. While you pay full fees, peers from the state quota pay much less, near 90,000 per year.
Campus Life
Life on campus is very vibrant and social. You will find many clubs for music, dance, and even gaming. The Student Council helps run these groups and plans many events. The library is top tier, with RFID tech and a huge range of books and e-journals. All classrooms are air-conditioned and use smart boards for modern learning. There are two main fests: Infinitus, the large techno-cultural fest in February, and Aloha for newcomers. For sports, there is an annual fest called Udgam. The campus has a gym, cricket ground, and basketball courts. These activities help you make friends from all over India. The mix of study and fun makes the experience very good.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel at SRM AP offers a variety of room types, from 2-sharing to 10-sharing bunker beds. Each room includes a bed, study desk, chair, and a wardrobe. Most rooms are air-conditioned, but non-AC options exist for those looking for a lower price. You get 24/7 Wi-Fi, laundry services, and a gym within the block. The buildings are modern and very clean, making for a comfortable stay. The mess menu serves both North and South Indian dishes. You will find items like Dosa, Idli, and Poha for breakfast, while lunch and dinner include Roti, Dal, and Rice. Special items like Chicken Biryani or Paneer are served on weekends. While the food is hygienic, some find the taste a bit bland over time.
Admission
I chose SRM AP over VIT or local picks due to its modern tech focus. Some students miss IIT or NIT because of high JEE ranks. SRM AP is a top private choice for CSE. The online tests make it easy to join. Most students use the SRMJEEE exam for entry. The counseling is very fast and fair. You need a 60% score in high school to apply. Top CSE seats close under rank 2000. Once your rank is out, you pick your seat. The entire process is simple and clear. This makes the start of college very smooth.
Faculty
The faculty at SRM AP are largely PhD holders from IITs or abroad, focusing on a research-first culture. The faculty-to-student ratio is roughly 1:15, which keeps classes small enough for interaction. Most professors are approachable during office hours, though some are strict about deadlines. While I haven't tracked a list of "best" or "worst" staff, leadership like Dr. Priyanka Singh and assistant professors like BLV S R Krishna in the CSE wing are active in the academic community. The course structure is built on a credit system, where you choose electives to suit your path. The curriculum is updated to include AI and Cloud tech, making it quite relevant for jobs. Exam and Marking System The grading follows a relative marking scheme, meaning your grade depends on the class average. Internal Exams: There are two mid-term tests (CLA-1 and CLA-2) that count for 40% to 50% of the total. Final Exams: The end-semester exam covers the rest. Difficulty: These are moderate. If you attend labs and follow the slides, passing is easy. Pass Rate: Very few students fail if they meet the attendance mark. Most who struggle do so because of low attendance rather than the test difficulty
Night Life
Campus life at SRM AP is quite disciplined yet social. Most students unwind within the campus due to its remote location. The nightlife is mostly centered around the hostel common rooms and night canteens, which stay open to serve late-night snacks like noodles and tea. Campus and Hostel Timings The university follows strict rules to ensure safety. For hostellers, attendance is taken at 9:00 PM, and you are expected to be inside your respective blocks by then. On event days or fests, these timings are often relaxed. The Central Library is a favorite late-night spot for many, staying open until 10:00 PM on weekdays, while the gym and indoor sports areas usually close around the same time.
