Remarks

There's no proper infrastructure and there's a long walk on elevated road for day scholars which is very tough. The college does not allow vehicles. The only positive thing about the college is the alumini network.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I choose electronics and communication engineering which is pretty tough for me. The examination structure is based on Anna University. Basically it consists of 10 two marks and 5 13 marks and 1 16 mark question.

Placement Experience

1.5

Placements and job opportunities are very poor in our college as it is a government college it does not have good placement. There are no internship provided by the college, students can attend internship on their own interst. My experience is with my college is quite bad because it does not have good infrastructure and there are so many problems need attention.

College Events

2.5

The answer is nothing. Due to insufficient funding our college doesn't conduct any events. In some departments students will conduct a event on their own which is pathetic. The college administration does not allowed any events to be conducted.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is same as in other colleges. They also provide scholarships on caste basis. The basic fees for every student is 50,000 give or take. I find this fees as quite expensive because of their teaching methods.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes there is scholarship and loan facility but I did not availed for it. Scholarship is based on caste basis. Speaking on loan facility the college does not offers any help for load you need to get it from banks on your own.

Campus Life

1

The college does not promote ant extra curricular activities or sports. Due to low funding the college cannot provide good lab facilities also. They are so poor on these things. There is no proper ground and facilities for students.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Yes I have opted hostel. The hostel infrastructure is very bad and old. Students have to adjust with the environment which is surrounded by a forest. They have to walk a long distance for classes. The roads are not good. The hostel food is not good.

Alumni/Alumna

There is a good alumni network and they help the college in a big way. They help us with placements. The college always depend on the alumnis for developing the college and funds for students. The alumni are very helpful for our studies.

Admission

My father works in tamilnadu state transport corporation, IRTT is run by Institute of road and transport. So I got a seat in that college despite of my low marks. I applied for that college and got a counselling letter. I attended counselling at Tharamani, Chennai. Then I joined the college.

Faculty

2.5

Faculties are very experienced persons and they teaches about the subjects based on syllabus provided by Anna University. Besides their experience some faculties are not capable of teaching the students in a good way.

Placement Experience:

IIT Madras BS has placement support through its online placement portal and the Industry Interaction Cell (IIC), but it should not be treated as a guaranteed “campus placement for everyone.” Eligibility usually comes after reaching a certain stage (generally after at least one Diploma level), not from the Foundation stage. Recruiter participation is strong and many companies hire through the portal, but the number of offers changes each cycle and depends on role needs and student profiles. Packages often quoted include around ?25 LPA highest and ~?10 LPA average, but outcomes vary a lot by CGPA, skills, and projects. Some reports mention ~60% on-campus placements, but it’s safer to say results depend on portfolio and consistency. After the degree, the practical plan is to target data/software roles using projects + internships, while also applying off-campus; higher studies is another common route.

Reviewed on Jan 30, 2026(Enrolled 2025)

Placement Experience:

The IIT Madras BS program offers placement support through the online placement portal and the Industry Interaction Cell (IIC). Still, it’s not wise to treat it like a guaranteed “campus placement for everyone” because eligibility and company criteria matter a lot. Eligibility is usually after reaching the required level (commonly after at least one Diploma stage and meeting IIC/portal requirements), so it’s not from the early Foundation stage. Different reports mention large recruiter participation through the portal, one report mentions over 220 companies and strong overall participation, but exact offers made changes every cycle. So it’s best to write that companies visit through the IITM online placement portal and hiring depends on role requirements and student profiles. Recent reports commonly quote a highest package around ?25 LPA and an average around ?10 LPA for on-campus offers for this program. Roles typically align with software/data tracks like analyst, data engineer, ML/analytics roles, and related tech profiles, depending on skills and projects. The detailed report claims on-campus placement success around --60%, and higher when counting off-campus outcomes, but this is not an official IITM statement. So a safe review line is: placements exist and are improving, but outcomes depend heavily on CGPA, skills, and portfolio. A practical plan after completing the degree is to target data/analytics or software roles using projects + internships, and also keep an off-campus job search active alongside portal opportunities. Another common path is higher studies (MS/MTech/MBA) after building a strong base in math, programming, and projects.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course is very challenging obviously as we're studying to become doctors. it could've been better by increasing the duration of the course. our first year/ semester instead of it being for 12 months was only of 9-10 months so our portions are being pushed a little. it happened due the scam etc around neet and our course start date was pushed. the course could be made easier by increasing the duration of the course. we have exams every week which does make it easier to keep up with the portions but makes it too stressful for us. maybe instead of keeping exams on monday they could change it to saturday so we can relax and be free on sundays.
