Likes
- Organising sports events, including football, basketball, cricket and more, keeping the campus energetic and having many opportunities for the students to participate.
- The annual fest is one of the best parts of the college. Last year during Zest, they invited Raftaar which made the whole event as excited and memorable for everyone.
- They also hosts many competitions and hackathons like Cynet, where students take part in gaming challenges, reel making contests, various stalls from food to games where you can win gifts/money.
Dislikes
- They could add more sports equipment, while they do have volleyball/badminton net, having other sporting tools would also be good.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have always been interested in Computers and since my father is also in the IT industry, I naturally wanted to pursue a course that would help me build a strong foundation in this field. The curriculum at JIMS is quite relevant and covers the essential subjects needed to understand real-world applications, programming basics and industry concepts as they also do Industrial visits to various companies where students get more knowledge about the industry.
Internships Opportunities
I haven't reached the internship stage yet since my internship period starts from the 4th semester next year, so i don't have personal experience so far. However, the college does offer a good number of internship opportunities through its placement and training cell.
Placement Experience
The placement opportunities at our college are quite good and students generally become eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester onwards. Many reputed companies visit the campus every year, including Amazon and several other well known IT and business firms. The average package is around 5 Lacs per annum, while some students receive higher offers depending on their skills and performance in interviews.
Fees and Financial Aid
At JIMS VK II my yearly fees is around 1,45,000 yearly and the total cost for the 3 year course comes to roughly 4,35,000. They also provide merit-based scholarships depending on students' marks/percentages and as of now, the fee structure has remained the same and is not increasing.
Campus Life
The campus is a bit small, so the overall campus life is not as large scale as some bigger universities, However, the environment is friendly and the college still manages to host many good events throughout the year. I'm not personally involved in any clubs but there are a variety of clubs on the campus for students interested in music, dance, tech and more.
Admission
I chose this college mainly because the professors personally reached out to me after i applied for it, and had a meaningful conversation about the course, career options and what i could expect from the program. This made the college stand out compared to others i had applied to like MRU (Manav Rachna University). I applied with my 12th marks and a Common Entrance Test, and submitted the required documents and attented a counseling session, There was no complicated entrance exam.
Faculty
The faculty in the college is excellent and very helpful throughout the semesters, always answering our questions and sharing their experiences with us. The faculty to student ratio is good, and most teachers are very approachable, making it easy to clarify doubts inside and outside the classroom.
Night Life
There isn't much of a nightlife on campus because the college closes around 6pm, so most activites end by evening. Students usually leave the campus once classes and sports sessions are over. There is no hostel inside the campus, so most students head home or to nearby areas, Although the campus doesn't have late0night hangout options, the surrounding Vasant Kunj area is safe and has several cafes and food spots, Malls like Ambience Mall, DLF Promenade and local markets where students can spend time during the day.
