Remarks

Building was too old but now that have renovated! The principal used to smoke cigarettes. extra curricular activites were not good. There was a little bit of religious and caste bias. There was no post graduation option and no placements!

Course Curriculum Overview

3

We had to answer 6 semester. Two semesters in a year. We also had extra curricular activities. Exams used to be conducted out of 120 marks. 30 marks were allotted for the extra curricular activities.

Placement Experience

1.5

There wasn't a placement option. Because it was just a graduation. I think placement option comes only for the post graduation courses. There was no post graduation in canara college. We had to go to other college.

College Events

3

We celebrated independence day. We celebrated cultural day. We also celebrated environmental day. Others include, holi, and many other traditional festivals. Sports day and other college festivals were part of them

Fee Structure And Facilities

Neither feasible nor expensive. I would say, inbetween the two. I would say average. We had to pay mandatory donation. That's the sad part of all private colleges. It wasn't so huge considering other private colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

scholarship were provided on merit basis and that's fair. For minority there was additional third party scholarship. There was no loan facility by the college but I think they allowed installment payment of fees

Campus Life

3

We had sports and commerce association. I was a part commerce association. It wasn't so great. It was just introduced when I joined there. So teachers had no experience. In fact, they were clueless. I hope now they are improved.

Hostel Facilities

2

Yes, we had to pay Rs 3500 but then eventually we bought our own house. Hostel fasciitis were not so great. Food used to be horrible. Anyways, these facilities were not provided by Canara college. So one can't blame them

Alumni/Alumna

No idea. I was not a part of it and I am not sure if it exists. No one invited me. But I heard that there is some senior college group but not officially by Canara college. So I did not prefer to join it.

Admission

Initially they prefer the students with 80% marks in 12th and then on decreasing trend depending on the seat availability. Overall, the process was simple and easy. We had to reach twice for the admission.

Faculty

2

Most of the teachers were friendly. Few of them were less experienced. Overall, teaching skills were average. They also did provide tuitions classes for ca studies. Overall, they had several teachers having expertise in different subjects

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester. Our college has a dedicated placement department that really guides and supports us through the whole process. Big companies like Deloitte and KPMG visit the campus every year, and since I’m doing B.Com + ACCA, there are plenty of great opportunities in finance and accounting. Last year, around 8 students from the B.Com batch got placed in finance roles. The average package was about ?6 LPA. The best part is that placements keep getting better every year, and the college has maintained a 100% placement record. They’ve even tied up with foreign companies, which opens up more global opportunities for us. After completing my degree, I plan to build a strong career in finance—hopefully starting with a reputed company like Deloitte or KPMG—and later explore opportunities abroad.

Placement Experience:

The college offers placement through the COC (Career Opportunities) cell. Students become eligible for placements by the 5th Semester. The companies which come to hire include the Big 4s, (KPMG, Delloite, EY and BCG), Fedral Bank,TCS, etc. Almost 70% of students opt for higher eduaction so the less number of students get placed at the UG level at least. I am personally figuring out which path to choose but I have placement in mind at the end of the degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My specific aspect of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the course is the ACCA along with Bcom. Most importantly the 9 paper exemptions provided that gives flexibility in the context of studying. The curriculum is well corporate and real world oriented. They prepare us on how to face the real corporate world through their curriculum by conducting different seminars and workshops.
