Course Curriculum Overview

5

Survival of the fittest and that was the motivation behind pursuing CSE as I am glad I did this course. I have job which I secured through campus and have learned everything in my academics which are needed to fulfill the industrial requirements. From building a site to SEO, our course had it all.

Placement Experience

5

First Source, Mindtree, Google and various names of IT which are dream jobs for anyone our university ensured that we atleast have a chance to get that. Ofcourse the requirements were less but our students with the skillset they had 80% of them had placements through campus including me.

Fees and Financial Aid

GIET University of Orissa is one of the best and has been a top class university and fees is slightly higher but still less than its peers like KIIT and others. Our fees was 2 lakhs a year and this year I have graduated and they have increased the fees to 2.1 lakhs a year.

Campus Life

5

Our departmental fest was Avyakt and then another techno cultural fests that our university hosted was Shrijan. Our campus is over 100 acres and have various blocks as our university offers over 50 courses and that's why our campus has seperate buildings to hold classes for all the courses that it offers. A strong positive vibes goes on at our campus and it's amazing to see students getting opportunities to explore.

Hostel Facilities

5

Top notch accomodation are provided by GIET University Gunpur. Our meals are average but other than that every single facility be it room quality, washrooms and extra curricular facilities at the hostel are amazing.

Admission

I applied at various colleges as my initial plan was to go to Pune or Bangalore for studies but then the fees structure and food and all issues, I looked at option in my state. KIIT and GIET are two of the largest university in Odisa and i chose GIET as our university certainly has better industrial connections than KIIT.

Faculty

5

Our davuyare kings and queens and I am saying this because they treat students like that. To have that kind of a personal where humilty becomes your poster image is something which GIET University faculties have been able to maintain. I have always had a regard for them and now since I am done with my college time all I can say is not my friends or anyone else but it were the faculties of our college whom I will miss the most.

Night Life

5

There's A GIET Garden and Gunpir Park close to our campus. Our campus have 4 cafes and they are enough I guess to get the bearishness of food which hostels unfortunately has. Our hostels in time is 8 pm for boys and 7 pm for girls.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
