Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was very relevant and comprehensive. In the first year, we got to read about the core engineering fields like Civil and Mechanical, with an added focus on communication skills as a separate subject too. In the subsequent years, our course got more specialized in that we were needed to study System Programming, the number of subjects get reduced to solely focus on what is needed in the industry. By the fourth semester, we practically were industry-ready with the various hands-on projects.
Placement Experience
The placement guarantee of the college is truly delivered. The average placement rate per year is 99% and I could really see that. Nearly everyone in my batch had been placed with on-campus offers, with average salary 5 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
I joined the College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar for the B.Tech. program with a specialization in Computer Science and Engineering in 2017. As a general category student, I paid INR 10,000 as seat reservation fee. After confirming my admission, INR 75000 had to be paid for the first semester followed by INR 1,000 for second semester. For the subsequent years, the fees was INR 38,000 per semester. For students belonging to reserved categories like SC, or ST, or Physically Challenged categories, the fees could be as low as INR 25,000-26,000. And these concessions help make education more affordable for students from underrepresented or economically weaker sections.
Campus Life
The strict policy of the college against ragging and other forms of harrassment has made the college life really enjoyable for me. I have earned the best of friends who have so many varied interests. The college has a number of clubs like Zairza which is the technical club, and Cetadel, which is the Literary club. These help students get an all-round development, not as professionals but as personal beings as well.
Admission
CET, Bhubaneswar is the ranked the No. 1 college under the Government of Odisha. I had appeared for the IIT-JEE so, as per my ranking, I was able to secure a seat in this college. The admission process, too, had been very smooth, with different dates allocated to different departments which made it less crowded and faster.
Faculty
In the Computer Science department, we had the best faculty who specialised in specific subjects with Master's degrees. Their way of teaching was very interactive. As compared to other departments, the intake in CSE in as perfect as 50-55 which made the faculty attend to every student sensitively.
Night Life
The nightlife, too has been amazing as much as I have seen as a day scholar. I have attended the festivals like Xtasy which happen at night, with concerts and parties. The classes, and cafetaria do remain closed, but during these festivals, we are indeed served with delicacies.
