What Students Say
Likes
- One of the many things that I liked about my college was my English department. We had the best reputation whatever it came to. I had the best time attending exhibitions and going to debates arranged by our department and my college.
- The classes were less about lectures and more about storytelling which made them exciting. the teachers were as excited as the students about down down the road of something new and interesting. I felt like I belonged there.
- The students were at first forced to break out of there comfort zone which might be scary at first but it was great for me to overcome my anxiety and to get over my shyness.
Dislikes
- one of the few things, some teachers were not very encouraging, especially teachers of the pass courses.
- The building might not be as attractive as one may imagine from the outside.
- It is situated in a very crowded place so silence or peace is a very hard thing to find unless you check yourself in our library. It is dead silence there.
Course Curriculum Overview
There were no specific aspects of the curriculum that influenced me, as I had always wanted to pursue English as a career. The curriculum prepared me when it came to socializing and growing my soft skills. If I had to suggest anything
Fees and Financial Aid
My course was B.A honors in English. The fees for the first year was Rs. 4840. To get a chance at specializing in English with honors, the candidate has to score at least 45% in the 12th board exam or an equivalent examination in the concerned subjects +200 in aggregate of four subjects, or they must have to score at least 55% aggregate marks in the subjects or the subjects related.
Campus Life
Special events like the Students' Relief Fund, Students' Concession, educational tours, and remedial coaching are arranged by the college. The range of books was good, but they lacked updated versions of a lot of the old ones. When I was in college, the technological progress was just getting started, so I did not see much of it in my academic years.
Admission
I applied to K.K. Das, Andrews College, along with Netaji Nagar, and got into all of them. However, I chose this college due to its reputation, its location, and its history with my family. Most of my family members have graduated from this college. The main eligibility criterion was that the candidate had to score at least 45% aggregate in the subjects or the related subjects. There so no admission exam to get into the college.
Faculty
My B. A Hons class had 60 students with 5 professors. The best part was, every one of the professors was extremely approachable and encouraging. Everyone had their individualistic flair. We had different faculties for examinations, Sports, Cultural functions, Magazines and Publications, Seminars, picnics and tours, and a Science and Nature Club. Every faculty consists of around 15 to 20 people. In case of sports, we have NSS, Yoga, Gymnasium, a student council, a placement cell
Interview Experience
There was no GD, admission tests, or interviews. My admission was based on my passing marks in the 12th board exams. As I have mentioned before, it was required for me to score at least 40% aggregate in the subject, and I had scored a lot more than that.
Night Life
One of the best parts of studying at my college was a giant lake. There was a lake near our college, and most of the students used to sit by that lake to decompress and breathe. It is still a very popular hangout place for college students. I remember there was this small and shabby tea stall which was owned by a guy called Dipu. The stall was famously called Dipu's Tea stall. Quite a lot of time me
