Course Curriculum Overview
I study mechatronics and the aspect of curriculum which influnced me was the courses. It is a well rounded curriculum which covers all the major aspects to become an mechatronics engineer. One thing is the number of lab course could been better. The exams follows pre planned schedules and announced well before a week. The frequency of exams are well spaced and even throughout the semester making the learning process a continuous one.
Placement Experience
SRM has a rich history for placements. Students are elegible to get into internships from 6th sem. And the placements start at 7th semster. The average package is around 8lpa for my department and around 75% enrolled students get placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
I enrolled during the acadmeic year of 2022-2023, and the fee for my course is 2,50,000 rs/- per year. But it has been revised to 2,75,000rs/- per year from 2025. The fees for management quota can be upto 5,00,000 rs /-. There are around 10 scholarships available for the students, this includes merit based scholarships with srmjee and cgpa, scholarship based on sports etc.
Campus Life
There are mainly two events AARUSH and MILAN. AARUSH is a technical event and MILAN is cultural event. Both of these events lasts for 4 days and have a myriad of events to compete in. Coming to Libraries, it has plethora of books on every topic. You name a book, there are very high chances of the library having that book. Each and every classroom has a regular blackboard along with a digital board as well as a projector. There are plenty of clubs/groups for every domain.
Admission
The main reason i chose this college was the course. Mechatronics was available in SRM. As I was determined in the course I did not apply to anyother colleges.The admission process was to clear SRMJEEE and based on the rank we get to select the available courses. The other ways include JEE mains percentile.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio differs from department to department. Our department has around 1:3 (student:faculty). The faculties are warm and approchable. There are 5 components splitted for 60 marks and the end sem is accountable for the 40 marks. The exams are pretty good, it can be cleared by being attentive in class or reading the ppts.
Night Life
There are gyms for hostellers and there is a food court called java so students can relax and have food other than their hostel mess, but mostly closes around 8pm. The hostel timing for boys is 9pm and girls is 7pm.
