What Students Say
Likes
- Infrastructure was best. MNIT has Asia's largest lecture theatre complex. It has air conditioned classroom and classroom offers positive environment.
- Sports facilities were good. There were grounds for cricket, football. I has many courts like volleyball courts, basketball courts and indoor badminton courts.
- Watercoolers were installed everywhere even in grounds. Quality of water was fine.
Dislikes
- Hostels in time and out time for girls. There was no gender equality regarding this. Only girls were required to be in hostel by certain time but there were no such rule for boys.
- Mess food quality was not up to the mark. However, girls' hostel food was way better than boys' hostel food
- Water in hostel. Water cooler were not clean in the starting years but after complaining they fixed the problem.
Course Curriculum Overview
There was no specific reason to choose this course. I find knowing about materials interesting. Curriculum was ok. But there should be more practical knowledge given to students. In exams, practical marks were given 1/4th weight of theorical exam marks. Teaching method was nice. Some teachers need to change their style of teaching. They should stop using PPTs as they use to read the content only without explaining. Time of the course was 4years (8 semesters).
Internships Opportunities
Oracle offered internships. Roles were software engineer intern and tester intern. Stipend was around 60000-80000. Wells fargo offered internships. Roles were that of software engineer only. BPCL offered internships. Roles were different for different branches. It was a core sector internship.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placement in 4th year only. However, they were eligible for internship in 3th year and most of the students get placed before placement session as they get PPO from the internship. There were various companies from both sectors core and non core. In core, there were reliance, BPCL, HPCL, HRRL, etc. Non core, there was IT related and finance related. Finance related was some bank(I don't remember the name). In IT sector, there were many like Deloitte, Apple, Oracle, etc. Hightest package was around 60lpa. Average package was 8-10lpa. Those who wanted to get placed, they all got placed. I am preparing for civil services exam.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for sc/st was Rs. 32,000 annually. It was around Rs. 2 Lakhs for General category students. Mainly the tution fee, library fees, registration fee and lab fees was paid by sc and st students. I have no idea about names of scholarships but there were plenty of scholarships there as MNIT is a reputed government college. Even one of my friends was getting scholarship from goverment and his scholarship was something related to domicile Rajasthan.
Campus Life
There was one annual technical fest SPHINX held in the month of November. There was one annual cultural fest BLITZSCHLAG held in the month of February. It was biggest cultural fest of Rajasthan. There were many books available in the library. Also there was an e-library which is free ti access through the college e-mail ID. Classroom was air conditioned and there was projectors in the smart class. Sports and extracurricular was good. Sports activities were organised regularly, also teams participate in competitions all over India. There was an annual MNIT sports meet. There were various Clubs like NGOs. Those were NSS, VSS, think India and many others. There were other clubs related to other things like there was coding club, astronomy club, dance club, music club, etc. It had positive developmental impacts on students. It develops their personalities.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility was good. Mess food quality was not good. There was a cupboard in the room. There was common washrooms (not attached). Washrooms were close to room. They were hygienic, cleaned everyday. Mess doesn't had good food. It had different menu for different day. Meal quality was not much good. It was eatable though. Hostel was registered through online portal of MNIT. And fees was also paid online. It was rs. 32000 per semester.
Admission
I had not applied for any other college. But I had choosed some other colleges like NIT allahabad, NIT Delhi and NIT kurukshetra in my jee council. But I got this college. And I think I got the best among them all. Eligibility critera was minimum 70% marks in 12th exams. Also, around 95 percentile in jee mains(for general) and 90 percentile around for sc/st. I am not aware of obc. However, this criteria change every year depending upon competition. Cut off was not given on marks, it was all about percentile, marks were out of 360. The people from outside were required to give some other exam. I don't have adequate knowledge of their procedure like what exam and cutoff.
Faculty
Faculty were nice. Some were very helpful. Most of them had good knowledge of the subjects they were teaching. I liked most of the faculties. I wouldn't name them as this would discourage other facilities. All faculties were trying their best to fill us with knowledge of the subject. Very few faculties(1-2) were there who use to read the slides only. Those classes were really boring. I disliked such faculties. There were 2 exams in a semester- 1 mid sem exams and 1 end sem exams. They were quite difficult. Students failing depended upon the subject. In some subjects, most of them excelled. While in a few, it was very difficult to get passings marks only. Course was relevant but I would say they need to give more industrial knowledge. Theory part was more in the curriculum than practical part.
Night Life
VLTC had a gym. There was different time slots for boys and girls. There was an air conditioned Library. Public areas were clean. Also there were dustbins installed after certain distance which helps to maintain its cleanliness. Hostel in timing was for girls only. It was 10pm. There was no such thing as hostel in timing but there was a register in which we had to fill our details if we show up after 10pm. Famous hangouts place in campus was PMC, Pratap sthal(helicopter point),teachers park. Famous places to hangout outside campus was GT, WTP, etc.
