Course Curriculum Overview

4

I am still learning from this course , so i dont have a proper idea on what will the outcome will be . I have learned pretty good skills so far , but there are still some useless things they teach you just to introduce you to other options . They should focus more on practical things rather than wasting our time on uiseless things such as physics , chem , bio , edg , mechanical labs . They should keep updating their course according to the need of the industry . I personally hate having exams every other month and submitting assignments and writing manuals in the meantime . I get frustrated by exams , although the exams are average , but still it feels very useless to conduct exams every month and that too of 50 marks each subject . If you are working on a side project you will have to take a break from that just to prepare for exams .

Internships Opportunities

3

I dont keep tracks of internship , but recently there was a internship from samsung and we had to give an exam to get that internship. Generally internship opportunities start coming in 2nd year . The one's who perform good in class have a higher chances of getting internship . They do give internship with stipend . All sorts of offers are made , like working on a project witha team in dubai . This is just one example, all you have to do is just work hard and work on your skills and you will land with many opportunities .

Placement Experience

5

Students become eligible for placements after 6th semester . There can be some exceptons for excelling students who are eligible from the starting of 5th semester . There are a lot of companies who visit our campus . The 2024 stats were 900 - 1000 comapnies and nearly 5,500 offers made by them . As i mentioned before our college provides a lot of opportunities . The highest and average package were 52 LPA and 7.19 LPA respectively . I dont have idea baout the exact number of students placed or percentage but i will tell you one thing , college underperformed ads compared to the year 2023 (it maybe due to recession or may not) . The number of offers was dropped by 3,000 and companies visited was also less comapred to previous and the highest package in 2023 was 1 CR . All in all there was a significant change in stats . It can be due to the introduction of AI in many fields or recession . My plans are to get my degree and get placement from the college and work in the industry , give it some time and then decide accordingly for the future .

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure varies alot in our college , like for example im a cyber security student pursuing btech in cse w/s cyber security and pay 4,00,000 rupees per annum . If you will ask my seniors they have less fee compared to us , this is due to the fact that our college is gaining popularity each and every year and thereby increasing fees of every branch by 25k-50k each year . This year the highest fee is of Aerospace and Cse core i.e 4,75,000 The batch of 2028 Cyber security is having a fee of 4,25,000 (increased by 25k) . The admission fee is 10,000 rupees , and i didnt come across any other hidden charges but i am sure that i will have to pay something for my placements (this is information by my seniors). We also have to pay for exam fee every semester to write sem exams , the amount is generally 3k-4k . There are no other charges unless you break college property or lose your id card . Our college denies about all the management quota allegations but i know few people who got through management quota or some broker into the college (it will be expensive). I have no idea about the fee based upon caste and categories because our college never exposes such things to students , although srmist provides some fee relaxation on sc/st but i cannot assure you about this Many scholarships are provided in our college like Defense scholarship (25% - 50% fee relaxation depending upon your cgpa) , Founders scholarship , basically all you have to do is do well in your srmjeee exam and score very good grades in college and youll get scholarships. Personally ROI is not that good in our college , but if you come from a upper middle class family you are good to go .

Campus Life

1

There are 2 typical fests in our college . One is Aarush and another is Milan , both the fests are celebrated on a very big scale in the college and many extra activities are done during there events . You will get to participate in all types of events like dance, arts , tech , drama . Each and every aspect and niche is covered in these fests . The library in our college is a major attraction , you can find each and every book there with a very pleasant environment to study in . College provides us witha 3 floor library (fuly furnished and centralised AC). You can sit there all day and study whatever you want . Facilities are pretty good in college , projectors , white board , lifts , labs , etc . I think they can improve in the quality of chairs and tables and a bit of cleanliness in class . Washrooms are pretty decent . You will find each and every major sport in the college like cricket, basketball, football, swimming, table tennis , badminton, volleyball ,etc . You can find many clubs and join them , increase your network and meet like minded people . Clubs do help in growing indivisually while working with others . Thanks to these clubs we can participate in hackathons conducted by them every other week . All in all there are a lot of social events that occur .

Admission

I applied for BITS initially but did not get my preferred branch . I did not score so well in JEE mains and Boards also went pretty decent . That is why i had to choose a private college to complete my degree from my preffered course . SRM was a recognised college and was a perfect fit for me . I chose BITS as my initial option because of the zero attendance policy . Talking about SRMIST , admission is done through SRMJEE (online exam conducted by SRMIST) , good jee mains score or boards score . Majorly admissions are done through SRMJEE in 3 phases . To get admission in btech cse you need to have 70 % or above in boards , but there can be exceptions in our college (management quota) . There is no particular cutoff due to the increasing student intake every year . Admission process was very straight , give the exam , select the course you are eligible for and then pay the fee . Most of the students prefer to enroll through SRMJEE because management and broker are very expensive .

Faculty

5

1 faculty handles a class of 60 students . The faculties in our college are very approachable , you can approach them whenever you want . Most of the faculties are pretty good in both teaching and attitude towards students. They help us all the time , some faculties even give us permission to go out and eat if we did not eat our breakfast and give attendance if we are not feeling well during class . They also guide us for our future and help in any way possible . On the other hand there are faculties who feel entitled about their role . They will be strict as much as possible , biased in class depending on grades , state , behaviour ,etc . They wont do any lineant checking in exams , wont extend deadlines of assignments , pressurize you over small things , cut attendance even if you are only 5 minutes late . They are not flexible with students at all , will make you run from your class to their cabin every other day for small issues that can be solved through messages and calls . They will disrespect you and you can not do anything about it . But this is all human nature , nothing can be done about it , my advise would be to just deal with it for a semester and then be free . We have cycle test every month and the result of those will be entered into our internal marks . In total we have 4 exams in our semester ; 3 CTs and 1 End sem exam . Each and every exam is easy , all you have to do is focus on pyqs . There are some exceptions such as Coding Subjects in which difficulty level is high . Generally 90 % students pass in exams and no problems are faced by them .

Night Life

5

You can find gyms , cafes , gaming cafes all over the place (inside and outside campus both) . But they are very much crowded due to a huge college crowd . All the places to hangout are pretty average . To really visit some good places you will have to travel to the main chennai city either by 45 mins taxi or local train in scorching heat and sun . What i am trying to say is that the places nearby are not "happening much" . I dont get good vibes from around here. Hostel timings vary for boys and girls which is a big turnoff for many . For boys hostel timing is till 9pm and for girls it is 7pm. I have not come across any campus restriction since girls can go out whenever they want in their free time.I dont have any famous places to tell you because everything here is very average or tier 3 class . I dont feel safe while roaming outside unless im in a crowded place where people are present because in here locals or people with connections do things in broad daylight and still roam free.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I influenced by my friends who joined in this course ,later on I adjusted with it ,the curriculum prepares students in which they are capable to understand in their own way with which they build up projects and expos and many more events conducted by the other collages to participate in it. It is a tough situation to deal with it because the minimal gap between the sessionals is 1.5 month so for students it a stress to cover the syllabus of all subjects and with project works etc.

The artificial intelligence I choose this course it is a growing course and job are high paid jobs. I prepared for real world purpose to get good knowledge on that. The teaching is overall good and the improvement of our course curriculum to decrease the exams .yes I felt very low because the exams are come over 1 on 1 timing is very low and it is difficult so we suggest to reduce the exam timings.
