Course Curriculum Overview

5

SSN is directly affiliated to Anna University Chennai. The syllabus, examinations are all selected and conducted under its regulations. It is not the best curriculum as we have to study many unwanted subjects but other than that it's ok.

Internships Opportunities

As such no internships are provided. But they encourage private internships. I , for example did a 4 week internship from L&T and was given leave for a couple of weeks after giving the report. On a side note I want to add that my college is pretty lax when it comes to attendance so you can get internships and just go.

Placement Experience

4.5

During peak placement times, there's a company everyday in the campus hiring. Great opportunities for IT, CSE,EEE,ECE and mechanical branches as a lot of top companies recruit from our college.(ie: Amazon, Zoho, musigma, MRF, Saint Gibson, standard chartered,) And the obvious mass recruitment companies Infosys, TCS, Wipro , Polaris, Accenture, HCL technologies etc

College Events

4.5

A yearly technical symposium "INVENTE" is held in the odd semester. 8 departments come together for this symposium bonanza. Technical events, non technical events, gaming events etc are held for 2 days and certificates are given. The best part of SSN is the culturals ' instincts'. 3 days of complete fun. DJ night, treasure hunts, ramp walks, great food stalls etc. It's just amazing considering the fact many engineering colleges in Chennai don't even have any cultural events. It's what seperates SSN from the rest of engineering colleges.

Fee Structure And Facilities

70000 for hostel for a year 35000 for bus fees for day scholars which is compulsory. As the College is quite far from the city most of the students prefer coming in the College bus. At leaSt 45 bus routes are available. The total fees including the deposits for a year comes to around 1.5 lakh. It is nominal when compared to SRM University, VIT University who charge in excess of 3 lakh rupees with hostel.

Fees and Financial Aid

The top performers of the batch are given scholarships every year. In fact there is a special scholarship day which takes place in the even semester. Merit, merit cum means, sports, and special achievements are some categories of scholarships provided. Student loans are given by Tamilnadu mercantile Bank in the College.

Campus Life

5

This is the best part of being at SSN. The sports facilities are good. SSN has the best sports teams in the State when it comes to engineering colleges. I myself represented my college at many inter college and inter University events. We have a world class cricket ground. I really mean it. Football turf, volleyball, badminton courts , 2 lawn tennis courts, indoor basketball court, athletic track, Squash court and a good size Gym.

Hostel Facilities

4

All hostels are WiFi enabled with high speed internet. TV in common rooms with sports channels. 2/3 sharing rooms are available. Individual rooms are available and a new international hostel is being opened in 2019. The corridors are cleaned everyday and ro water is available round the clock.

Alumni/Alumna

Yearly alumni association events are conducted in the College. An alumni network has been created where there is newsfeed in what everyone is up to. Events are always nostalgic and there is stand up comedy and stuff.

Exam Structure

Internals 3 unit tests for each semester. Each test is of 50 marks. Then converted to 100. And then average of 3 taken as out of 20. This is the internal marks. Which is out of 20. Any internal above 14/20 means a pass mark of 45/100 in the external semester exams. The lesser the internals, the higher the pass marks. For example for an internal of 3/20 the pass mark is 62/100. It's quite complicated but it's mentioned in the Anna University site.

Admission

As a sports person, I had a few senior friends already before joining the College. I had couple of conversations with the Physical director and he was keen on me joining. But I had to get a minimum cut off of 170/200 as I was from CBSE. After the results were out I informed the PD and was sent details regarding aptitude test and tryouts. All sports candidates have to attend personal interview and an aptitude test. I was the 2nd topper of aptitude which helped me in getting the subject I wanted. The best part is no donations, recommendations. SSN works only on Merit

Faculty

4.5

They are very highly qualified. The thing about SSN is that since there is only meritorious entry, a lot of students study really well and score good marks. The students with real interest in their subjects have amazing opportunities to learn from not just faculties but also libraries and online materials provided by the College

Students can join job drives from the 7th term. Many firms visit the campus for jobs and offer roles in tech and other fields. The pay varies by firm and role. EEC has a good job rate and gives help for job prep. After my degree, I plan to work in the tech field and grow my skills.

Placement Experience:

Students are open to campus placements from 2nd year onwards. There are many companies who visit such as Delloite, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, Amazon, NatWest, Nokia, etc. Highest package offered is 42 lpa and lowest is maybe 2-4lpa. Around 90% of students get placed here. My plans is to get a job through campus recruitment. Currently I got an internship through campus recruitment in Cognizant so the recruitment is quite nice here.

Placement Experience:

One thing I really need to appreciate at CIT is its placement training program. The placement team conducts regular sessions on 1. aptitude 2. coding 3. communication skills 4. group discussions and 5. interview preparation which helped me feel more confident during placements. The trainers were friendly and always encouraged us to improve our skills step by step. They provide continuous guidance and feedback throughout the training process. Mock interviews and one to one assessments helped me to understand my strength and weak areas and I work on improvements . These sessions not only improved my technical and communication skills but also boosted my confidence . The placement training team played an important role in preparing me for career opportunities and industry expectation

Chennai Institute of Technology is an instituition that truly prioritizes student career growth . The placement cell is exceptionallu well-organized ,consistently connecting students with reputed companies across various industries. What makes CIT stood out is the quality of its training staff. They focus heavily on communication , technical knowledge and competitive preparation ,align students with what top companies expect ,and contiuosly push us to improve and meet industry standards. Their structured training helped me to clearly identify my strengths and work on my weak areas, which made a huge difference during interviews and boosted my overall confidence. The department faculty are equally commnedable ,knowledgable ,approachable and genuinely invested in student career. Overall CIT is an excellent choice for anyone focused on building a strong and sucessful career
