LIFE IN SASTRA UNIVERSITY,THANJAVUR

My course, Bioinformatics, mostly deals with applying several languages to biological data and evolves around DNA, protein, and genes.It gives equal opportunity to dive into complete IT or software side or stay in the research field. The subjects are mostly application-based with real-world projects.

For my branch, I would say there are not many opportunities for a core company, but some pharmaceutical companies and IT companies are offering placements including Astazenca, Dr Reddys, Fidelity, Rosche, etc.

I paid 75 to 85 thousand per sem.The courses provided are very useful and provide in-depth knowledge.The research facilities are top notch,best of all Tamil Nadu.I was encouraged to involve in multiple projects and also received guidance for my placements.

The college atmosphere is kinda strict with the recent unfortunate incidents happening in the nearby colleges. So the rules are struct, particularly for girls. Apart from that there are continuous fest, and multiple clubs like art, dance, singing, NCC, NSS various more.

There are options for hostels,single, double,triple and 4 sharing and also with bathroom attached.The minimum would be 16000 and the highest being 25000.There is a store and washing machines inside the hostels.Along with grounds,volleyball, throwball,basketball court and a badminton court.

The research facilities are top-notch almost 90% of the teaching staff have their separate research lab involved in multiple projects. Due to this, the professors teach practical real-world problems rather than the usual boring theory.

There are 3 mids conducted of which best of 2 are taken.They are called as CIA (Countinious internal assesment) and a final Semester exam.Might be lab exam or theory exam.The questions are mostly application based with high standards.

Girls are not allowed out of the hostels after 6:30.Else you can stay in the library till 8:30 pm with permission.The food in canteens is good but not awesome. There is a gym, washing machines, clinic, pharmacy, stores, etc.
