Remarks
The college is overall good, the faculty is great, course is well planned, the crowd is also good, the canteen is hygienic And the library is good, the only drawback is the fees which might be too high for some.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is good and keeps in mind the learning and proffesional approach required later in life. The course is well built around history, practical approach and building design philosophy. The course are divided into modules which further focus on selective topics and learning.
Internships Opportunities
The college does provide opportunities for internship during the end of third year of the 4 year long course, they assign a mentor to each student group to ensure learning at the workplace, the stipend however depends on the company you're working for.
Placement Experience
The placements are varied and job opportunities are enough. It starts around January of the final year. They have a team of faculty who ensure you get placed and help you out with interview and the rest of the procedure
College Events
There are multiple events that take place, the college fest, called utsav happens once a year, with musicians, DJ, comedians, stalls and food. There are also Diwali fests and handloom day and multiple occasions where there are performances, food stalls etc
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is pretty expensive, for a fashion design course I end up paying 20lakhs for the fees and 4-5 lakh during the whole course on stationery and supplements, so overall the course is expensive.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The college offers scholarships to the less fortunate, the SDS (student support department) helps us out with the whole procedure, they also have entrance exam based scholarships that are based on how you perform on the entrance, but I think they are only for people below a certain income group.
Campus Life
There are various societies, Fasion, dance, drama and plan clan that Perform at and organize events, the labs are very spacious and well equipped with good grade sewing machines, big pattern making tables and printing, laser cutting and weaving facilities.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel infrastructure is average, the rooms and cupboards and premises are well spaced, the food isn't too good and mostlu junk food is served, apart from that the hostel is 1-2 kms away, surroundings are average and food could be better but isn't something I'd complain about.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumini sometimes do come in for lectures or something workshop, otherwise there isn't much interaction with them, although the talks are helpful and tells us about the kind of approach required for working in the industry.
Exam Structure
The exam structure is jury and practical based. The jury takes place once every month or sooner and we have to present our ideas /work to a panel of jury members who give collective feedback, there is no written exam whatsoever.
Admission
I first had to fill a form, after which I was allotted a slot of examination and interview at the location of my choice. The entrance exam was fairly easy with two segments, aptitude and creative thinking. After which we had to go for an interview and preferably show a portfolio, if you are selected, you get a mail/call and then you can go for further registration
Faculty
The faculty are professional and interactive, they don't turn you down even if you text them on a Sunday afternoon with some doubt, they focus on individual growth of the student and also encourage personal design philosophy and building of ideas based on our interpretation of topics.
