Course Curriculum Overview
BDS is an exhaustive professional course. 4 years of teaching includes 19 subjects that the student has the individually pass in. The course, though similar, is quite different to MBBS. Only those students with an acumen for art as well as being academically sound should opt for this course.
Internships Opportunities
Yes. One year compulsory internship is required to be completed. During this period, the student will be periodically posted in each of the 9 departments. A stipend of Rs. 25/ day of attendance, is given to each student.
Placement Experience
Placements in dentistry depend solely on your acumen and skill. Following completion of the course, an interim certificate of completion is provided, with which you may apply to private clinics/government hospitals/armed forces.
College Events
Apart from the celebration of national holidays, such as Republic and independence day, an Annual Sports meet and Cultural week is celebrated in the month of March. During this week, inter year sporting events take place such as football, athletics, basketball and cricket.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is feasible at best. But a total expenditure of 15lacs is to expected throughout the 5 years of the course. Every aspiring student must keep this in mind before applying to this or any other dental college.
Fees and Financial Aid
No scholarship or loan facility is known by me. The student has to furnish his/her own education loans with the help of their parents. The college by itself does not provide for any education loans or scholarships.
Campus Life
There are 2 volleyball courts, 2 badminton courts, a cricket/football field, and a newly constructed basketball court within the premises of the college. Apart from this, debate competitions and rangoli competitions are regularly held throughout the academic year.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel infrastructure and facilities are modest at best. Neither excellent nor too bad. The hostel room is on a triple share basis. Ac or cooler may be installed at an additional cost. There are two canteens, apart from the food provided at the hostel. It would give it 3/5 stars.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is not well organised. But the seniors are extremely helpful and they are the guiding light behind the successful completion of the course. Ragging is pretty much non existent and there is great camaraderie between the juniors and their seniors.
Exam Structure
There are three internal exams held each year. 1st term in December, 2nd term in April and a pre university paper in July. Following these, University examations are held in August of each year. Each student is expected to attain 50% in theory and practical papers of every subject.
Admission
To get admission into this college, a student is required to qualify the NEET entrance exam. Following this, you have to apply and attend the counselling organised by Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences.
Faculty
The faculty of SRCDSR is highly experienced and invested in imparting dental education. They take active interest in each student. They make sure that the concepts have been grasped and that its application is proper and correct. Individual attention is also given to the weaker students.
