Likes
- The ambience and surroundings of the college. Well maintained campus with bicycle bay and outdoor gym.
- Most of the staff are friendly and donot interfere in personal matters of students.
- The rules and regulations are mostly student friendly with no restrictions on boy-girl interactions and freedom. The programs and events are very much better compared to other colleges
Dislikes
- The approach of certain non teaching staff.
- Curfew in ladies hostel. Curfew is different for boys and girls.
- Quality of mess food is bad compared to the mess fees.
Course Curriculum Overview
Exams like 1st and second internal assessments and model exams are conducted before the university exams. Teaching methods of some staff is to be improved. Sometimes it is felt that theoretical knowledge is of not much use in the clinical scenario.
Internships Opportunities
Internship or house surgeoncy is of duration 1 year. Stipend for interns is ?6500 per month. Postings in different departments with varying duration. Various departments are department of OMR, Periodontics, Oral Pathology, Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, Conservative Dentistry etc
Fees and Financial Aid
Tution fee annually is ?321300 for 2019 batch. Other fees like hostel fee ,mess fee , material fee,special fee etc are there annually. Material fee- ?10000 All these fees are constant for each batch every year but increases for different batches yearly. Students in OEC(SC/ST) category qouta has 0 fees.
Campus Life
The events and programs are far better in Mar Baselios Dental College compared to many other colleges. Very well equipped library with wide range of books and computer systems available. Sports and extea curricular activities are there.
Admission
I applied to several other colleges like KMCT Dental College, Pushpagiri Dental College, PMS Dental College, St. Gregorios Dental College etc. During first allotment I got into Sri Sankara Dental College. During second allotment i got admission in KMCT Dental College. In the third allotment my first option was Mar Baselios Dental College and i got admission there. Allotment is based on all kerala rank and cut off of each colleges.
Faculty
Some faculty members are approachable while very few others are not. Exams are frequent. The final year part B 1st internal assessment is conducted during final year part A which makes it difficult. Some of the non teaching staff are very irritating.
Night Life
Out door gym and a bicycle bay are there. The outdoor gym is not of much use though. Hostel timings are different for boys and girls. For girls the time is 7pm to get into college campus and 9pm to enter hostel and for boys it is 9pm. Canteen with snacks.
