Course Curriculum Overview
Whatever that is prescribed in our syllabus, I believe is very relevant with what we need to learn. If somebody gets on the teaching line, these topics are very important for them to have a basic knowledge of that particular subject. The teachers don't actively focus on completing the syllabus, which in turn becomes a burden for the students. They need to be serious because its a matter of a childs life. The final examination has a duration of three hours and the class test has a duration of sixty minutes. The question aren't that difficulty. One who has paid attention to the lectures will for sure pass in the examination. But someone who does not know anything about the topic will mostly like to fail.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are very cheap. Considering all the extra charges, the fees is 1000 per year. It also differs from one department to another. So, for the complete cousre the fees will be approximately 2000. Apart from that, we also receive scholarships from the state government. Out of which the most common one is Ekalyan, which is given to rhe students based on the amount which they've paid to the college. For the present amount, we will receive an amount of 7000 approx. There are other scholarship as well which exists such as the Tata Capital Pankh scholarship. But most of the scholarships provided by the Tata group of industries require the students to opt for a separate examination. Only after passing this exam with a certain percentage, a student can get provincial help.
Campus Life
The Campus life at Kolhan University is not that lavish, but very simple. As we hail from a small town, the people here are not that educated. But have a very basic level of education. The campus includes basic amenities like lecture halls, libraries, and hostels. However, students often face challenges regarding modern infrastructure and resources compared to well-established universities. Despite this, efforts are continuously made to improve the academic environment and provide necessary facilities for a better student experience. The students are also encouraged to publish books and are often given any kind of support by the department. Overall, while Kolhan University may not have the same level of infrastructure or club variety as larger institutions, it offers a solid campus life with a focus on cultural and social interaction, where students are encouraged to engage actively in both academic and extracurricular pursuits.
Admission
I preferred this college out of all the other colleges because whatever subject which I was opting for was best taught here. Not only that, all the other colleges stand no where in comparison to it. The teacher here at least come to the campus and teach something. But in other colleges, the teachers don't even come. There's only a one percent chance of the teachers to conduct classes. There is no discipline and no proper way of maintaining the facilities. Other colleges of our area only focus on organising events rather than teacher. I did not face rejection from any of the colleges which I had applied to. But, found the current one a perfect match for my requirement. At first, in order to get an admission in the university, a student has to fill in a form online at the chancellor portal. Then after a month the college issues the provincial list. After which the student has to go to the department and submit the documents along the the admission form filled online. Next the student has to self-attest all the documents and submit in the office for a stamp, again all these approved documents are to be brought to the department for another approval. The college further releases more merit list according to the availability of seats.
Faculty
Although the number of teachers present in the campus is very high, but not as much as it is required. There are certain positions which are vacant. Both the teachers as well as the students look down upon each other. Our Junior Assistant professor Miss Shreya, is my one and only favorite teacher because she is very honest and friendly. During the class she makes us comfortable and confident. She always guides us and gives us suggestions. However, there were no such teacher in our department whom I disliked. All of them were up to the mark. There are a total of two exams in each semester. One of which is a class test and another the final examination. So for the entire course, one has to go through a total of eight examinations. The standard of the paper is not difficult and is mostly easy. Students don't fail that often because the marking system is also a bit linent. Theres only a chance twenty percent for the students to fail.
Night Life
Since Chaibasa is a smaller town, it does not have the buzzing nightlife scene as found in metropolitan areas. However, students typically find opportunities to socialize in more low-key settings. There are a few cafes and local eateries where students can hang out with friends in the evening. These places are typically quieter and more relaxed, providing a comfortable environment for casual socializing, having meals, or enjoying a cup of tea or coffee. On occasion, university-hosted cultural or social events may extend into the evening. These events often include music, performances, and informal gatherings, offering a lively atmosphere on certain nights.Chaibasa has fewer options for nightlife, such as bars or nightclubs, compared to bigger cities. However, the town does have some markets and local shops that may stay open in the evening, where students can spend time before heading back to the campus or hostel.
