Course Curriculum Overview
I choose a specialization course in computer science which is cyber security and for the first two years most of the courses are similar to the core students but further on you get to choose domain specific electives which push you ahead in that specific field. The curriculum is well formed and constantly updated as per the industry standards but sometimes a few subjects are more theory focused rather than being more practical. They need to focus more on practical learning of the course. Exams are held every month and are not very hard someone focusing in class could easily score good marks in the exam.
Internships Opportunities
There were many companies this semester which offered internships like jp morgan, Barclays, bosch etc. The stipend varied from 30k to 70k for them. There are tests taken by these companies on the basis of which they choose the students to hire and upon the completion of these internships based on your performance they offer you a job.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is a fixed annual fee structure that you recieve when you join the college depending upon your course. It varies from 4,00,000( 4 lakh ) up to 5,50,000(5 lakh 50 thousand). B.tech cse core costs around 450000 and all other computer courses cost similar except AIML which costs around 550000. Other than this you will have to pay a variable exam fee of around 3500 before final sem exam every semester. If you get a rank through SRMJEEE exam you can get a scholarship verying from 100% to less depending upon your rank and to continue and to continue getting the scholarship you need to get above 9 gpa every semester.
Campus Life
There are two annual fests aarush and milan. Aarush is the tech fest held around October and milan is the cultural fest which is held around January. There is a big library in the university building and you can get any type of book of you need over there and it's very easily accessible. The classes have AC and digital smartboard. There are multiple grounds in the campus where you can play any sport you like and a 3 different swimming pools. There are many student run groups and organisations like SRM kzilla, Alexa developers club, dsa, daa etc.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility is okayish there is nothing extra provided than what you pay for actually they charge more than they should. There are rooms with common washrooms and attached washrooms depending upon the hostel. The hostel mess food is better compared to mess from other colleges. There is an online booking site for hostel which opens on a particular date and one needs to book hostel during that time, it's based on first come first serve basis.
Admission
I applied for VIT, BITS, ST. XAVIERS, CHRIST etc. I got confirmation from all of these but I couldn't get the desired branch in bits and for vit it was just a personal choice of SRM being more free and chill prompting me to choose SRM. I didn't get rejections from any of these but after all my needs and wants the best option I found was SRM. There was only one exam SRMJEEE which I needed to score well in to get my desired branch and after that we were asked to choose out of the branches we were offered that's it. We did not have to give gd or pi.
Faculty
There are enough professors and staff for the students. The ratio is near about 1 faculty for every 30 students. The faculty is nice and approachable plus they keep on informing you about everything that's going on in the college and the opportunities you could grab. It's just that you would have to approach the faculty yourself for some tasks they won't be running behind you. Nitya mam, varun sir were really nice. There are really no bad faculties each of them are fairly graduated, there can be bad days with professors but if you approach them and do the tasks as they want they won't misbehave with you. There are about 2-3 tests for each subject and then the final sem exam. About 90-95% clear the exams.
Night Life
The gates for hostel close for girls around 7 and for boys it's around 9 but if you stay outside there is no restriction. There is a gym but it's mostly crowded and there are multiple cafetaries and foodcourts like java, slice of life etc. My fav place to eat is slice of life. There are multiple lakes, malls and restaurants to explore. You can go to the beaches at night. I love hanging out near lakes and beaches during the night time
