Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is PRETTY big. Its really big, actually. Sometimes its hard to handle, because of its bulk, some of it is relevant some of it is not, in the clinical applications but you have to study that to jncrease your knowledge, while the exams are focused on a few important topics out of the curriculum, thoee topics are meant to be focused on, more as they carry more clinical importance than the others.
Internships Opportunities
The interships in medical colleges are just for 1 year and that too, only in the hospital that is associated to your college. A medical student has to do a mandatory internship of 1 year after his 4.5 years of MBBS. The salary for it varies according to the state.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees is same for OC/OBC/ST/SC students, that is 23,000 rupees, that includes the expenses of tuition fee, e-library, CDS, central stores, library fee, caution deposit, non-government fund. The total hostel fee is 26,000 rupees, same for every students, this includes a 5000 rupee caution deposit that i completely refundable after 5 years of the course. There is a academic development fee, which is 3000 for open category and OBC students and 1000 for SC/ST students. There is a university fees which is 12000, which only AIQ quota students have to pay. The mess fees is 3600 per month, which is additional as the mess is private, and not officially affiliated to college.
Campus Life
The campus life is usually boring, but fun if you're into sports and fun during the fests which are held occasionally, on some important festivals, but not so often. The books and journals in the library, 5-10 sets of the important medical books are available the in the library to read and those are sufficient according to the number of students that can study there at once. The club activities are minimal, there are 4 clubs, music, finance, reasearch, etc, which have minimal activity of anything except around events.
Hostel Facilities
You get provided a cupboard and a bed, no mattresses, no personal chairs and tables, you would have to buy them if you want to use them. Mess food is average, but youre a north indian that you have to adapt to the rice-based diet as rice is present some way of the other in all three meals of the day, usually. You do get chapattis but only for dinner. You dont have the register separately for hostel, it is linked to your college registration.
Admission
The only way to get in this college, is through NEET Counselling which is held after the the NEET examination, for which you can apply after your 12th grade. An aspirant's college is decided according to the type of councelling they participate in, the state they belong to and their rank in neet examination along with their category. AIQ students, who are 15% here, have a high cutoff to get into the college, around 660 marks for general category, lower for others. State quota students who got the college alloted through the state councelling had low cutoff due to low competition, cutoff being 595-600 for general category.
Faculty
The faculties are on a spectrum, some are nice, some are very nice but some are not so, the faculties are divided into the departments of subjects they teach in, every department has every type of teachers, some are very good at teaching and delivering the concepts, some of them sometimes dont deliver with that efficiency. There is strictness related to attendence and the faculties aren't soft about your reasons of not attending classes even if the reasons were valid or serious. There's the final exam and 2-3 internals that are conducted throughout the academic year, those are on a medium to hard level, the marking is pretty tight, even if youve studied everything, you'll not score good-good marks.
Interview Experience
No i did not face any test like that as there isn't any other way to get admission into the college except the neet councelling, you just download your NMC's issued admission letter and bring it to the college during the reporting period.
Night Life
There's gyms around the college, but not so many cafeterias or restaurants, options of eating out are pretty much limited and specific. Hostel and campus in timings are 9:30pm in the night. The surrondings are pretty okay, the college is in one corner of the town so the safety is okay-okay.
