Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course is well thought out and advanced, they are not teaching expired syllabus, infact they keep updating the syllabus any moment possible. My course data science aligns with my future plans and hence I chose the course. The course is actually very good and you'll learn two basic programming languages in the first year itself which you will require further in your career. This will prepare you for programming club activities and hackathons and code marathons. The teaching methods could be improved by removing some part of the syllabus as it is too heavy sometimes, especially in credit heavy subjects. The teaching methods could be improved by increasing the faculty or reducing students per faculty member in this case, because due to density of students a lot of them are neglected. The frequency of exams should be lessend. This point aligns with my previous point where I stated that the management of the college is poor. They start the semesters very late then rush everything including exams.

Internships Opportunities

5

Internship opportunties I am not much aware of but I have heard of seniors getting ample opportunities through clubs and other hackathons and many working professionals that the college regularly invites to the college.

Placement Experience

3

The placements of the college are decent and around avg 10LPA for first three branches. The branches that usually perform well in terms of placements are CS core, IT, CCE and other CS related branches. With the decrease in branch in BTech, the placements also decrease. The college sees as low as 4LPA and also as high as 1CRPA. Companies visiting include IBM, Microsoft etc Percentage of students getting placed is usually between 90-95%. After getting the degree I plan to work independently as a freelancer.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees for the entire BTech course (in CSE and related branches) varies from 4,10,000 to 4,30,000. There is a 20,000 caution deposit which is refundable, and a 10,000 one time registration fees at the start of the first year. The total year wise fees that I personally paid including hostel is around 7 lakhs. The registration fees is called so if you take direct admission, it is 10,000 and the course fees that direct admission students pay is much higher than if you take admission through the MET (manipal entrance test) counseling procedure. There is no developmental fees or lab fees in this college. Fees varies from course to course and is the least in Mechanical/Civil engineering department and the highest in CSE and related branches. There are multiple scholarships and these can be viewed at the official website of Manipal University Jaipur. The scholarship includes having more than 80% in 12th grade to be able to apply. The highest scorer of the applicants gets the scholarship where a large percentage of the course fees is refunded. The student being awarded this scholarship must maintain a CGPA of more than 7 every year to continue the scholarship. There are also scholarships for wards of deceased defence personnels and central government employees. There is also scholarship awarded to single female child and to MTech and PhD students. This is the Dr. TMA Pai merit scholarship awarded to UG students only. There also exists a Rajasthan Merit scholarship awarded to one person in each stream of every course given to students of the Rajasthan domicile as per criteria : 1. Highest aggregate in the said branch in 12th grade exams 2. The maximum scholarship awarded will not exceed the tuition fees of the said course. There are also scholarships for local region students ie. students that come from Dehmi Kalan, Thikaria, Sanjharia and the villages nearby Manipal University Jaipur. They must prove their residence to these villages and will be awarded on merit

Campus Life

5

Campus life is probably the most fulfilling and satisfactory thing about Manipal University Jaipur. The club culture is very active, there are multiple fests and events organized repeatedly. They are typically held from January to May and then August to december. The range of books and accessibility to library is large, there is a book available for every topic on earth you can think of. The facilities in the classroom are great, they have smart screens, projectors, computers in the computer labs and the freedom to choose to write on an Ipad or notebook for students. The sports offered on campus are innumerable there is everything from basketball, table tennis, cricket, football to chess, carrom, snooker. There are teams for some of these sports which hold tryouts every year and qualifying members get to play for the college team and represent the college. The sports culture here is even better than club culture. There are multiple student run social clubs aand student portals that alumni have created in order to help younger students.

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostel facilities are extremely good for newer blocks. The senior blocks are a bit rundown due to being old, but still far more livable than a lot of places. In the room there are softboards, beds, sockets, AC, Heater, shower, large storage space, wardrobes, drawers, all in classic manipal colors. The meal quality is good and there have been no complaints of food poisioning or anything else in my time here so far. The registeration process for hostel takes place online during counseling only. You might have to make calls to the office for a mail to sign up for the hostel and complete payments for it. The affordability of hostels is subjective and it might be out of budget for some people, but for them there are innumerable PGs around the campus. The locality is good, the hostel is like a small town in itself, you'll never feel the need to leave the hostel to get something because there's everything inside only.

Admission

I chose this college as it was the only college that I could get into through the Manipal entrance test. In other colleges I wa sbeing offered branches that I had no interest in. I did get rejected from a lot of colleges I applied to, including RV and BMSCE in bangalore, because they would only accept me if I paid a donation, which I was not ready to do. I did not make it to those colleges due to inadequate scores in my entrance exams to those colleges. The admission process of my college is through either direct admission- which requires you to have over 80% in 12th grade. Based on your %age in 12th grade you'll be alloted a branch in the course you have opted for. The other way is through the Manipal Entrance Test, previously known as MUOET, and then go through an online counseling process which will determine your rank and what college you are applicable for based on your rank under the Manipal Colleges and MAHE. The cutoffs are the lowest for the Manipal Main campus, MIT Manipal. It further increases for MAHE bangalore, MU-jaipur, MU-sikkim in that order. There is a separate way of admission to MU sikkim through the SMET (sikkim manipal entrance test) as well.

Faculty

3

The faculty to student ratio is not the best, but it is fine. There are 90 students to 1 professor for every subject and there are 7 subjects every semester. The faculty is very approachable and have given complete acess to students to come and meet them in faculty blocks anytime. The faculty maintains a respectful yet friendly approach with students, making sure they are able to teach one on one to every student as much as possible, but it depends on particular students wether they'd like to really understand this with their professor. Some of the faculties I particularly liked are Mr. Ankur Saharia who was my electrical and electronics systems professor in the first year. He is one of the most professional teachers I have seen in this college. His way of teaching is incredibly relaxed and he is always open to clear every doubt in his subject, which is one of the toughest in all subjects offered in the first year. Also I liked was Mr. M Jayakrishnan who was my professor for Problem Solving using computers in the first year. He is also increidbly professional and most importantly, friendly during classes. His assignments are a bit tough though, but thats because his subject requires thorough understanding. These are my favorite faculties so far. There is one mid sem and one end sem exam per semester. There are lab exams, vivas and internal assesment worth 30 marks that is divided into 3 online quizzes, assignments and practical examination/lab exams. There is then a 30 mark for midterm and 40 marks for End term written examination. The exams vary in difficulty from easy-moderate. Usually subjects with high credit weightage are a lot more difficult in comparison. Students normally don't fail, as the faculty is pretty lenient in this matter, but that doesn't mean that they'll let anyone off the hook.

Night Life

5

The nightlife around and in the hostel is great. The college closes at around 11pm for hostellers and thats also their in time. The gym is available inside the hostel and there are multiple PGs with gyms around the campus. the cafeterias have nescafe and a bunch of other outlets that offer just about anything to eat. Famous hangout spots inside the campus are old mess, grand staircase, dome building, and inside the hostel are stardom and pizza bakers, and subway. The locality around is extremely safe to hang out however the in time of the good host spaces is 9pm and back to your respective room is 11pm for girls only. There is everything outside GHS as well, eateries and bakeries included.

Placement Experience:

Placements in my college are average but improving. Students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester. A few companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture (off-campus support), Capgemini, and some local Jaipur-based IT firms visit the campus. Most offers are for software trainee, support, testing, or analyst roles. The average package is around 3–4 LPA, while the highest package goes up to 8–10 LPA (mostly off-campus or through exceptional performance). Around 60–70% students get placed through campus or combined on/off-campus efforts.
