Course Curriculum Overview

My creativity has inspired me to come into this field and i would like to thank my parents for letting me take this course especially my mother for recognizing and entrusting me to take this course even though i was doubtful.

Fees and Financial Aid

I'm Snigdha Priya from the footwear design and development institute in hyderabad and i am pursuing by bachelors in design in leather lifestyle and product design course. I am currently in 1year foundation batch. The past 6 months was like a roller coaster ride with a lot of emotions involved but mainly enjoying the subject and gaining insights from what we have learnt from each faculty and putting it in practical use by making product or prototypes. The faculty is great here and the equipment and machinery provided is of high and number one quality all over india. Classrooms are all air conditioned. There are fests and culturals that done to improve our knowledge regarding that field or even improve our confidence and presentation skills. Coming to the seniors, they are quite lovely with everyone and are always ready to help to at any step of the way or of you have any query regarding the subject or anything. FDDI Hyderabad is a ragging free campus and it is definitely true. I live in a hostel and the mess and hostel rooms are clean and pretty decent. Undergraduate Courses offered: Bachelor of Design (B.Des) in Footwear Design & Production: Focuses on designing footwear and understanding production techniques. Bachelor of Design (B.Des) in Fashion Design: Offers training in fashion design, garment construction, and textiles. Bachelor of Design (B.Des) in Leather Goods and Accessories Design: Focuses on designing leather goods like bags, wallets, belts, and other accessories. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Retail & Fashion Merchandise. Postgraduate Courses: Master of Design (M.Des) in Footwear Design & Production. Overall FDDI Hyderabad is an amazing college to pursue your bachelors and masters in the field of design and retail marketing.

Admission

Why I Chose My Design College: I chose my design college because of its unique blend of creative freedom, academic rigor, and strong industry connections. When I was considering various colleges, I was looking for an institution that would not only help me hone my design skills but also expose me to innovative methodologies and technologies. The faculty’s expertise, combined with a modern, well-equipped campus, played a key role in my decision. Comparison of Design College with Other Colleges: Curriculum: My design college offers a progressive curriculum that integrates both traditional and digital design practices, preparing students for the ever-changing design landscape. Other colleges I applied to either focused too much on one or the other, which I felt would limit my growth. The flexibility in the course structure allows me to specialize in areas like graphic design, UX/UI, and product design, something that wasn’t as pronounced in other institutions. Industry Connections and Internships: The design college I chose has a strong network with leading design agencies and startups, ensuring students have valuable internship opportunities. These connections provide a clear pathway to professional employment. In comparison, some of the other colleges I applied to didn't seem to have as many active partnerships or strong alumni networks in the design industry, which made me worry about post-graduation opportunities.

Faculty

4

The faculty in Footwear Design and Development Institute Hyderabad are experienced in their respective fields and have the patience to teach the doubt again and again if someone didn't understand it. The faculty to student ration is 1:20.

Night Life

3

As i am a hosteller we have a curfew by 9: 00 pm. So my nightlife is basically in the hostel itself. Hanginv out with roomates and other people in the hostel. This even allows to strengthen the bind between everyone.

I don't have much idea about the placements. But it's said to be quite good. The companies that visit the campus are well-known and they select the best candidates for the job. My plans after getting a degree is to finish the master's in the same field and then work for some basic experience in the field and to become an entrepreneur in the future. There are many career options that can be considered after finishing a degree from this college.

Placement Experience:

The placements depends on the student, Campis does bring some companies, but in the end it's the students portfolio and personality that will grab the opportunity. Campus placements started from 8th semester, we have placement coordinators too. Various companies like oram, micron, flipkart show up for the placements. And the 2023 batch had the average of 6.2LPA. The highest so far has been 13LPA, top 20% avg is 8.8 LPA It keeps on increasing, depending upon the student itself.

There are placements given but we dont preffer to take these as it is not good enough and our faculty encourages us to get our own coz it helps in exposure The salaries can be pretty low compared to other schools like bba Desing is very different it needs both artistic and logical minds as it is subjective and people have diffrent ideologies that makes it hard to fullfil all the requirements

National Institute of Fashion Technology - [NIFT] Hyderabad, Bachelor of Fashion Technology [B.F.Tech] (Apparel Production)
Reviewed on Dec 2, 2024(Enrolled 2021)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The best part about the curriculum is multiple internships. Starting out after the second year, we have our textile internship. It spans over two weeks and we are supposed to submit a report and presentation regarding its working and the process flow. After our third year, an apparel internship of 2 months is to be carried out. This is a great experience to truly understand where and how to work in the industry. The last semester is entirely one internship for which different companies such as aditya birla, landmark, decathlon offers and comes to campus for placements. This might be one of the most important parts of the syllabus as it can help shape our entire career. Juries are taken for all these internships which again helps us in remembering everything important regarding the working of the fashion industry. Since our syllabus is regarding apparel production, it is majorly focused on this. This provides us great insight of the working of a textile and apparel factory and about the brands that we shop from. Another part of our syllabus is the inter disciplinary minor where we can learn subjects from other departments from semester 3. Then we have Deepening Specialisation from 3 different options, Production, Technology and Management. This allows us deeper analysis about the core of our subject.

Placement Experience:

On campus placements are not very helpful. It's better if you build a strong portfolio according to your line of interest and search for jobs through connections or on your own. Campus placements are fine but you'll get more and better opportunities if you go out there to find jobs or internships in your own.
