Course Curriculum Overview

4

I've always had an interest in computers, I chose commerce in my 12th class, therefore I had the option of choosing only BCA instead of btech. The course curriculum is quite good in my opinion, the teaching methods can be improved by listening more to the students who are asking for some doubts and clarifying them, instead of just blabbering about the subject and leaving the class. The exam occurs very frequently and in some cases the syllabus gets covered only a day before the exam, putting more pressure on students as they have to revise all of it in a short duration because giving 5 exams in a semester of 4-5 months is tough.

Placement Experience

4

The placements of the college is performing well compared to other universities in Chandigarh. Various companies like tcs Microsoft and sometimes google come to provide packages to the students. The placements start during the last semester i.e. 6th and students have the option to opt for the placement services, therefore joining the placement camps where they can get a good job. The highest package ever given to a bachelor was around 15-20 lac per annum. My plans after BCA is to go for MCA as it'll give me a better package.

Fees and Financial Aid

Normally I would've paid 150000 per year for the college fees. I'd given the scholarship exam of CUCET which is specially designed for Chandigarh University. I scored around 70 marks out of 100 and got 40% scholarship, which reduced my fees to 90000 per year. Apart from that the registration fees is 10000, paid only once, and the CUCET exam fees is 1000. During admission, apart from tution fees you'll be charged 2500 for exam fees and that's all. There is no other fees. Those who score above 90 in CUCET get 100% scholarship and they don't require to pay any tution fees.

Campus Life

5

There are various events held by the main university, which involve some singers and movie actors as well. The events related to technology and hackathons are also conducted each year. The library is really great and offers books from various sectors to different readers. There are various facilities available in the library of main campus such as a private room with a television for team projects, various computers and tablets for students to access, and a resting room as well. The classrooms do not have any technical provisions apart from a projector which is rarely used. The sport activities are few in comparison to the other events and are held once or twice a year. There are different social groups run by both students and the university itself, making a huge impact on student life as they are actually good and organise events regularly.

Hostel Facilities

3

A basic 3 seater room offers a student a bed, a table and chair along with an almirah. The fans are generally 2 in a room along with a cooler or an AC. The cost of an AC room is over 1.8 lac per annum, that's why many students prefer the cooler room. An attached bathroom and a shared balcony is also provided on the basis of the location of the room. The meal quality is overall up to the mark with a proper hygienic control and warm food. I haven't rented any room or PG as I'm a hosteler and the college building is right next to my hostel. However, there are various types of PG and apartments available in 1-3 BHK at affordable prices.

Admission

I applied both for Chitkara University and Chandigarh University, and my application got accepted in both of them. I had to make a choice, so I checked the rankings where Chandigarh University was above Chitkara University, even making in the global 700. The admission process is quite simple. You just have to give your details, like certificates for the 10th and 12th grades, character certificates, and transfer certificates. You have to give your basic details during registration including your aadhar card, photograph etc. The only exam by which one can get a scholarship is CUCET and scores marks in that exam and gets a scholarship accordingly.

Faculty

3

The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:7 which is actually great. However, the faculties are hard to approach as they hesitate to give their phone numbers and give their emails instead. The exam system is like this: you have 2 mid semester tests of the theory paper and the average marks scored out of these both exams count in the final There is only 1 lab mid semester test in between the 2 mst After that the practical exams begin and continue for a week. And after that there is a final examination, making a total of 5 different exams in a semester. The mid semester test are actually quite easy and a good score can be achieved from them. The practical examinations are easy, too as they are just practical conduct and viva. The final exam might be tough as it is set by another teacher from a different branch and some students fail in 2-3 exams out of 4 in total, as per the 1st semester.

Night Life

5

The gym is available till 7-8 in the evening and gets closed. The students usually hang out in the food court where there are various food stalls from different companies offering a variety of cuisine. The library also closes at 8 in the evening. The hostel also closes at around midnight and the campus is guarded 24/7. All the localities are safe to roam at night as they are all guarded along with proper light and security cameras. There are not any famous hangout places in the university apart from food junction which is completely filled up most of the time.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had a lot of interest in programming languages and in computer and how computer works. In future ,technology and application will be widely used . This course is appropriate for choosing according to my interest. This curriculum prepares me alot for this real world applications because future generation is totally dependent on AI tools or technology . I suggest in improvement of modernising technology, you have to focus on practicals for this curriculum. The exams are correct like starting at 9 :30 and ends at 12 :30 . Each student have different timing for their exams according to their course.
