Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum of the PhD course consists of several aspects like Research Methodology, Research and Publication Ethics which influenced me to choose this course. This curriculum helps research scholars to know about good research practices and shape their work into something fruitful for the soceity.
Internships Opportunities
Honestly, I don't know about any internship opportunities currently offered by my college. But there were some projects in the past offered in the field of Solar Energy, Data Analytics etc., which aimed to offer the basics understanding to students about these rspidly growing sectors.
Fees and Financial Aid
Firstly, I paid 9900 rupees at the time of admission which included the admission fees and the semester fees for the first semester. Then, after six months, I paid 5100 rupees as the fees for second semester. My other batchmates belonging to categories like SC and ST paid the fees of 7900 at the time of admission which included the admission and semester fees. They were charged 3100 as the fees of second semester. Our university provides a monthly stipend of 8000 rupees to the PhD students to in order to help them cover their monthly living and other costs.
Campus Life
There are two annual festivals held in my college, one is called Teknofest (held in Feb-March) and the other is called Utsav (held in September-October). There are wide vareity of books and journals in the library of my college and are easily available. The classrooms are spacious and are well equipped with projectors. There is a sports ground in my college and a separate tennis court, badminton court and a basketball court.
Admission
I applied to only one other college apart from this college which was Banaras Hindu University. I was called for the interview there for the PhD program but unfortunately I was rejected. Honestly, I was not expecting this result and I could't reckon that what went wrong from my side. The admission process for the UG and PG courses is through an entrance exam while that for PhD courses is through entrance exam followed by interview.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is good as for every 8 students, there is a professor. The faculties are very knowledgeble, helpful and have a friendly behaviour towards the students. Each and every faculty of my department is very good. In our PhD course, we have to give exams only once in our entire course which are generally easy and students rarely fail in those exams. The course curriculum is quite relevant to the research conducted in the respective areas.
Interview Experience
I had to face an interview in order to be shortlisted for the admission of PhD course. The questions of the interview were based on my research interests like Nuclear Physics, Quantum Mechanics, etc. To prepare for the interview, I generally studied the basics of above mentioned subjects from the books of some reputed international authors.
Night Life
I generally spend my night-time by studying in the library of my college which has a research scholar's room open for 24 hours all the day. Campus is also open 24 hours for entry, but one has to show his/her valid identity card issued by the college at the entry gate. There are not much places to hang out inside the college, but outside the college there are some parks and zoos to hang out with friends. The locality of college is generally safe to raom around at night
Other Applied Colleges
Banaras Hindu University - [BHU] | Ph.D. (Physics)
I appeared for the interview, but unfortunately did not qualify the interview.
