Course Curriculum Overview

4

The pattern of curriculum is really helpful for the students to develop their skills as they take a final exam in each semester. They provide both theory as well as practical knowledge. I personally dont appreciate the teaching methods because they focus more on theory exams and focus less on our practical knowledge. The knowledge of pharmacy in terms of practical application is not provided or taught enough by the faculties. Every sessional exams which r held in each semester is of one hour which includes 10 minutes for mcqs and 50 minutes for theory. Each semester exams os of 2 hours which includes 20 minutes for mcqs and 1 hour 40 minutes for theory. The difficulty of exam ranges from easy to moderate, with dedicated study and proper information students cam crack the exams with excellent marks.

Internships Opportunities

3

The college provide intership opportunity in their JSS Hospital, Mysuru. Students can do their internships outside the college in different hospitals and even in abroad. Internship program train the students for their placements.

Placement Experience

3

Students become eligible for campus placements after 6th semester. Companies like Backster, Biocon, Pfizer, Eli Lily etc. Recruits around 50% of the students. The lowest package is around 4 LPA and the highest package is around 10 LPA. 50-60% students gets placed in good companies based on their qualifications and interview. I personally prefer to take MPharm or Pharm D after the degree for higher education. I would like to work in abroad.

Fees and Financial Aid

Initially, the fee for first year BPharm is 2.15 lakhs. For the upcoming years till will reduce to 2 lakhs. You should pay the fees from the bank and not by cash. From the second year,It is allowed pay half of the fees based on each semester.Tution fees, caution fees, lab fees , etc r included in the 2 lakhs. There are no reservation for backward classes. JSS college of pharmacy is a deemed to be university. After every year there is scholarship for bpharm students ranging from 80,000 to 1,00,000Rs . 3

Odd semester provides various festivals lole Ganesh Chadurti, onam, kannada sambrama, etc. College even provide Pharm fest which oftens takes place for 3 to 6 days. Classrooms have bunches and tables , along with a podium for the faculty, each classroom has projectors to display the study material. There are various clubs ran by the students like cultural club, literary club, sports club, etc this offers the students to participate in various events based on their skills.

Hostel Facilities

4

I live in the girls hostel provided by the college. The hostel is clean and well maintained. The aesthetics of the hostel also adds to merits of college. Its a full furnished hostel. The hostel provides a mess for all the students. The mess timing for breakfast is from 7:30 to 9:30 am. The mess timing for lunch is from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. Evening snacks are available in the mess from 5:30 to 6:00 pm. Dinner starts from 7:30 till 9:00 pm. As a student from Kerala i personally didn't like the mess food. The food is extremely tasteless and bland. They do not provide nutritious food for the students. Several health issues are caused due to the mess food. Gym is provided in the ground floor with all necessary equipments. A badminton ground is located at the centre of the hostel for students to play badminton or tennis. Washrooms are present in each floor. Filter for pure drinking water is also provided in each floor for the students. Hostel fee often ranges from 50,000 to 1,20,000 based on the number of beds in each room. Hostel provides two sharing rooms, three sharing rooms, four sharing rooms and even five sharing rooms for the students. Booking a of the rooms is better to do before hand. Students even stay outside the college as paying guest, several pgs are available in the vicinity of the college.

Admission

I applied to Ramaiya College of pharmacy in Banglore, SRM college in Chennai and Amity University. I got selected in all the colleges but i chose JSS College of Pharmacy as they have highest NIRF ranking in India. The college ranks 6th in India according to NIRF. I chose JSS College because i wanted to do Pharm D, but i couldn't join as i was late for the admission due to Neet exam.In some colleges i got rejected because i couldn't crack the entrance exam dure to the difficulty level of the exams. Eligibility criteria of the college:- student must pass 10+2 with biology, physics and chemistry. Diploma students can also take the admission and do the course as lateral entry students.

Faculty

2

According to my opinion, most of the faculties are not supportive to the needs of the student. I personally like Dixit sir and prabhita maam so far, as they r helpful and consider our needs. Each there are overall eight semester in four years. Each year has two semester exams. Each semester consists of two sessional exams which is of 30 marks including theory and practicals and one final semester which is of 75 marks.Passing rate is high for our college as they provide important questions and materials needed for the exam. They provide excellent teaching pattern which helps the students to exceed in the exams.

Night Life

5

The college provides a Cafeteria in front which provides breakfast and lunch for the students. College allows the student who loves in the hostel to explore outside till 8 pm for both girls and boys. During Saturdays the entry time for students are till 9:30 pm. College timing for classes is from morning 9 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5pm.one hour lunch break is provided from 1pm to 2 pm . Within rhe college they provide special gardens and a warm and eco friendly spot to sit after classes. Gym is provided in both girls and boys hostel with all the necessary gym equipments. Outside the college its is safe to roam in fhe vicinity of the college. The streets are filled with cafes, juice spots, restaurants and super markets. A family park is there behind the college.
