What Students Say
Likes
- The campus and hostel is huge and has all the facilities one would require to live properly.
- A lot of clubs and memberships, you will absolutely find one or the other related to your interests and hobbies.
- The girls to boys ratio is pretty good as compared to most of the engineering colleges.
Dislikes
- A lot of PDA in the hostel area , sometimes it’s too much and very annoying.
- The exam schedule is pretty tiring. No preparation leaves at all in between exams and one can have multiple exams (2-3) on the same day.
- Some unnecessary courses are there which are pretty irrelevant like for a CSE student, studying Biology, constitution and EVS doesn’t make sense.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was always interested in coding so I chose CSE (AIML) as my course. A lot of real world applications is taught from the second year onwards so can't tell much about it. The teaching can be more interactive and a reduced class size would really help. In a semester once mid terms are held and at the end , End terms . The difficulty level varies from subject to subject , Engineering Physics and Engineering materials and Mechanics were pretty tough.
Internships Opportunities
A lot of companies offers internships last year like Google, Microsoft, Adobe , Dell , BNY , Avixia and a lot more. Many of the internships had stipend above 1 lakh and the average stipend was around ?33000
Placement Experience
Students become eligible to sit in the campus placements in 4th year but a as for internships, they can start from 2nd year onwards . For the batch of 2023 , more than 1479 offers were made from companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Accenture, American Express, Goldman Sachs and many more. The average package was of 12 LPA for engineering students. Top 36% offers had an average of 30 LPA. 96% of engineering students were placed. I plan on getting selected into a FAANG company after my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The annual tuition fee is ?410000 , registration fee was ?10000 if you apply separately and not through MET counselling. The caution deposit is ?15000. The hostel fee is approximately ?2.4 lakh per year including mess charges. The laundry charges are not included which are around ?8000 if you opt for it. The fee for all cse courses is the same. the tuition fee for chemical and civil engineering is ?309000 , for mechanical engineering is ?324500. There are various scholarships for board and state toppers and for the students of Rajasthan.
Campus Life
Mainly, 3 fests are held throughout the year: 1.ABHIVARTA (sports fest) 2. TechFest (technical fest) 3.ONEIROS (cultural fest) A lot of study material , books and E journals are available in the library which is really helpful for students. The only down side of the library is its size. It should have been a lot bigger. During exam time , there is hardly any place to sit , students have to sit on the floor to accommodate themselves. All class have 2 black boards and a white board with can also be used as a screen for the projector. The classrooms are well equipped with lights fans and Ac along with windows for proper ventilation. There are facilities for almost all kinds of sports in the campus . Running track, basketball courts , badminton courts , football and cricket ground all are there. Even the hostel area has multiple no of courts of various sports. There are multiple no. Of social groups and clubs related to tech , dance , art , social work and many more. One can easily find one related to his/ her interest.
Hostel Facilities
All the rooms are either twin sharing or triple sharing (only boys hostel) which is recently being converted into twin sharing. All the rooms have attached bathrooms, fan , Ac/heater and proper lighting. I am currently staying in the new hostel building which has 2 beds , 2 study desks , 2 pinboards , 2 bedside tables and 2 huge wardrobes. The rooms are quite spacious and have 2 smaller windows/ 1 big window. The rooms cleaning services are provided, we don't have to clean ourselves. The food is okay I would say , the menu is a bit repetitive but there are a lot of options usually. For breakfast bread, butter , jam , milk/tea/coffee are always available. Both lunch and dinner have 2/3 sabzi options along with roti , rice , salad and fryums/papad. In the evening there are evening snacks along with tea/coffee. The even snacks can range from pakoras to bhelpuri to honey chilli potatoes. The registration process for hostel was pretty easy , we got to choose our rooms ourselves. As for affordability , it is on the expensive side but again a lot of services are being provided within the hostel campus itself .
Admission
I applied in Shiv Nadar university but did not choose it because I was offered Electronics branch there which I had no interest in choosing. I also applied in VIT , I sat in the counselling and was offered a seat in a CSE specialisation course but ended up not choosing it because of its location, it's pretty far from my hometown Ghaziabad and secondly heard a lot about their super strict policies and even about favourism of teachers for South Indian students over others. I also applied for BITS's entrance exam but ended up not giving it because I wasn't qualified for it , an aggregate of 75% in PCM in boards was required which I wasn't able to achieve. I truly feel that I didn't do my best and could have studied better and got better grades in my board exams . Our college accepts direct admissions through BOARD EXAM marks and also though MET counselling. To be able to sit for MET counselling, one had 2 give the MET exam . 2 sessions were held for it , best marks were counted. It included physics, chemistry, maths and English.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is okish as there are approx. 90 students in a class of 1st year students. Most of the faculty is friendly and approachable. Dr Reema Jain is faculty of Mathematics, really liked her because of her simple and straightforward approach, she made of the toughest subject understandable for us. We do not like Dr Saikat chattopadhay , he teaches us engineering physics, sometimes he finishes the topic too quick and it goes over our heads , he is pretty strict and a bit unapproachable as students fear him a bit. For the internals there are quizzes , assignments and Mid term exams . Quizzes and assignments make up 30 marks and mid terms another 30. The End terms hold 40 marks . There is no negative marking in both quizzes and examinations. The quizzes are held online on Microsoft forms thrice in a semester, the best 2 scores are considered.
Night Life
There is a gym in the hostel for which membership is required. There are multiple cafeterias and food places within the campus (around 20) from which food can be ordered and delivered to the hostel blocks or one can go and dine, Dialog is a very famous restaurant inside the campus, its pizza is top tier and Jaipur baker's coffee and cakes (especially biskoff cheese cake) are very famous. The in timing is 9 PM for the hostel. The nearest clubs to the campus are Stoa and highland And 2-3 cafés are also there nearby.
Other Applied Colleges
Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Had the final choice between VIT and MUJ , didn’t choose it because it was pretty far from home and had some negative reviews.
