Life at Woxsen

The curriculum is quite good, sometimes there's a question of where are we gonna use it, but then it just makes the base stronger making sure it is used somewhere in the industry. The curriculum every semester gets intense making sure that we learn more of the design specific. We do hands on work in various projects, we do both digital and physical work based on the module. Every module has it's own significance that further leads to strong knowledge of the field

Campus jobs is a thing here, We can opt for various roles depending upon our skills, Based on the that we will have a interview and if selected we can work for the campus in various projects, And yes they do pay. Photography, graphic design, etc Are some fields we can choose from.

The placements depends on the student, Campis does bring some companies, but in the end it's the students portfolio and personality that will grab the opportunity. Campus placements started from 8th semester, we have placement coordinators too. Various companies like oram, micron, flipkart show up for the placements. And the 2023 batch had the average of 6.2LPA. The highest so far has been 13LPA, top 20% avg is 8.8 LPA It keeps on increasing, depending upon the student itself.

Yearly the fees for the course and accommodation remains the same that is 2,95,000 and 2,56,250 respectively. The charges for the laundry services might increase, but the current charges are 24,000 an year. In the first year we paid a non refundable fee of 50,000 as admission commitment fees, this might have increased by now. The actual fees is 25,00,000 for 4 years but the university also offered a scholarship of 20% in reduction of the total fees based on the entrance exam score. University also offers EMI services as financial aid, and other based on the situation

Overall, The campus life at Woxsen is okiesh, not so bad not like very good, There are a lot restrictions at times, even going out of the campus has a process. Rest is chill, we can stay out of the hostels till 2:00 AM and the curfew ends around 4:00AM and if the permission to stay back in class is granted then the timings can be anything. We do have events within the campus on various occasions, Onam, Diwali, Bollytolly (cultural event), Film fest, DJ nights, Halloween And many more................. There are various clubs that we can join based on our intrests, they also have various positions. Sports is the best area I wil say exists here, fantastic facilities when it comes to sports, Great football field, turfs, great coaches for different sports, inter campus tournaments, competitions, football league, cricket league and much more, indoor games are quite great too, Snooker, foosball, air hockey, chess, carrom, etc... Library is another great spot in campus, It consists of top books, open for everyone, good seating places, ambient, great place to focus and do our work, includes Mac lab, a cafe with great tea/coffee and snacks. There are both mac and dell lab, giving a choice to choose from depending upon the projects. For us design students, Wood workshop, metal workshop, 3d printing lab, laster cutting lab, thermocol workshops also exists.

Boys: Triple sharing rooms, We can choose from AC and non-AC rooms, charges applied. Rooms have a high speed wifi connection, study table, wardrobe, comes with 3 beds and mattresses. Washrooms are western, and yes we do have a shower. Girls: Almost same just they have a option to choose from double sharing and triple sharing Food: The money that we pay yearly is for the mess food: The mess is known as Oval here, And they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner The food quality is good at times, sometimes ehh. They have different food everyday, The menu keeps on changing everyday, but is same for every week, We get both veg and non veg options, includes chinese food as well. Wednesday, we will get chicken and veg biryani Thursday, chinese (fried rice and noodles) also normal dal chawal Rest of the days the menu is normal. Overall it's okiesh, sustainable.

Earlier I applied to UPES, but the fees there had an annual increase, which made me change my decision, and later as I found woxsen, the fees here stays the same for all the four years, I chose to study here. Also the infrastructure here looks really great giving the vibes of that "campus". Also the admission process was quite smooth, Gave an entrance exam, then had an interview, got selected, also got a 20% scholarship in the total fees, so it just wasn't easy... The design department here is really good in most of the aspects, as it is also ranked 2nd in the nation, it just makes sense. Thus, I chose this one, do I have regrets? Not really, a bit yeah because of the amount of restrictions and the distance from the city, and food expense within the campus (cafeteria) other than that, it's good.

The faculty to student ratio varies from department to department, my course of industrial design is just fine with the ratio, no complaints. For us, the faculty is quite supportive, some are friendly some are not, there's a balance which is good for us. Every semester there will a jury panel grading us on all the works of the semester, along with one or two written exam.

Yes, Interview happened after the entrance examination, Interview consisted of us showing our portfolio and explaining it, and then them asking us questions on the basis of what we show. Not too hard, mostly easy, but yeah portfolio is important and a must.

There are 3 gyms, Two for evryone and one only for female staff and students for a particular time slot. Gym is well equipped with the machines, weights are great, quite ambient place to be honest. Spacious, great for cardio. When it comes to cafes and hangout places, We have 4, Rise, situated in admin block, open from morning till 10pm, Blu embers, open from 5pm to 1:30AM, New embers, the restaurant of the campus, Cup of joe, in library, orders can be made using an app, mostly no hassle is required, but sometimes when the crowd is more, it takes time for the food to be prepared. Taste wise is good. In the hostels, in every room we have WiFi,one with good speed, it's a tripple sharing room for boys, girls have will have a option to choose from double and triple. Both AC and non AC rooms are available, charges applied. We have a fifa approved football ground, along with a great racing track, a cricket ground, various turfs for various sports
