Course Curriculum Overview

3

Well I always had an itch to be in a medical profession because I like having a substantial contribution towards the society. In MBBS there are plethora of ways to be worthy. If you like physics, go radio, if you like crime investigations go for forensic medicine and so on. The curriculum needs to be fixed though. There is still a whole lot of uncertainty about the NExT exam and Government authorities couldn't care less to provide some clarity.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship is provided after the fourth professional and it is a compulsory internship of 12 months comprising 2 months of rural postings and at other 10 months in the hospital premises itself. It actually gives some exposure and really helps in deciding which speciality to choose if opting for post graduation. Attendance criteria is strict there as well so be ready to get up for night duties.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are state sponsored scholarships available for minorities and below poverty line families. Also some merit based private sponsored scholarships like maharishi dayanand scholarship scheme are also available.

Campus Life

4

The are annual fests major being our sports meet SPARDHA and other being ARMSCON. These happen around July to October every year . We have a well maintained library with good range of books research journals and digital media available. It is easily accessible for the students and faculty of the college. Lecture theatres are good too- just adequate for the student count and use hi- tech equipments and are fully air-conditioned.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel Accommodation is something that needs due attention of authorities. The hostels are so overcrowded right now are there are paltry rooms available for students. 4 students are residing in a single dorm room almost half of the batch has to search out of the campus for accommodation. Quality in mess is pretty good actually the food is affordable and tastes good as well while still there is room for improvement regarding cleanliness in the mess kitchen.

Admission

I wanted to apply for ESIC Faridabad. That being a central college I would have got some institutional quota into other central colleges like AIIMS and the pay scale would have been better too. PGI was my second choice and I'm satisfied to be here as well because of the opportunity of getting clinical experience is so much better here than ESIC. Admissions are done through state counselling based on NEET UG scores. The process of allotment is online now which is better as a more transparent process.

Faculty

4

Faculties are really interactive (with some exceptions ofcourse) and faculty to student ratio is good too. Students get good proportion of lectures to small group discussions and demonstrations conducted by professors, senior residents and junior residents. We have proof exams at the end of professional year and those are hard to fail to be honest but many students tend to be at a disadvantage regarding their attendance. The attendance rules are very strict here.

Night Life

4

Hostel gym needs improvement. Students have to go for private gym outside due to inadequate facilities in college gym. Also the cafeteria is good and provides tasty and value for money food. There are many great cafes and bars outside the campus in Rohtak and movie theatres for recreation. There is a tilyar lake nearby but I did not find it appealing enough.

New nmc curriculum is quite clinical based and practical also the practicals in different subjects help us to grab the concept even more. Syllabus is quite vast and difficult to cover. Exam frequency is very high evil give pcts after every topic completion and two internals and two centres and one professional exam is also there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I've always wanted to become a doctor. Every batch consists of 150 students and for every subject, there are at least 4-5 professors. All faculty members are of course doctors with varying degrees of specialization in their respective fields. Their teaching method is through PowerPoint slides for theory classes and practical's are held in respective labs as it happens everywhere else usually. As for now, due to COVID exams being postponed otherwise before the pandemic, exams were held on time. Exams in a medical college are always slightly more difficult than other courses otherwise if you study properly it's not that tough to pass.
