PGIMS Rohtak as everyone know is one of the oldest medical colleges in India. It is also one of the reputed colleges. It was given an A+ grade. It provides quality education to the students who thought it might be lacking a bit in infrastructure and extracurricular activities.

Entrance Exam

The curriculum of MBBS as usually said is indeed one of the difficult among all the courses. First-year subjects include Anatomy, Physiology, and biochemistry. Second year subjects comprise Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, and Forensic Medicine. Ophthalmology, ENT and PSM are covering in the third professional while Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, gynecology, orthopedics, radiology, dermatology, anesthesiology are studied in the final year. Exams are conducted at the end of the session. Before the finals, send-ups are conducted and basic tests are taken throughout the year for internal assessment.

Placements and jobs are not as direct. After completion of MBBS, one can apply for house job, admission in which is strictly done on the basis of marks scored in MBBS. Vacancies are made available from time to time for various posts like junior and senior residents, Assoc. Professor etc. Yes, PGIMS Rohtak provides an internship. The internship is for the time period of 1 year starting after the completion of the final year. 1 year internship includes a mandatory village posting of 2 months in rural areas. A stipend of Rs. 16900 per month is given to the interns.

Fees structure of PGIMS Rohtak is moderate. It is neither much expensive nor too cheap. The fees for every session lies between Rs. 65000 to 80000 which includes academic charges or tuition fees, hostel charges, annual maintenance fees excluding mess charges.

Scholarship can be provided to economically weak students. Scholarships are also available for the students from reserved categories but to fetch it, one has to show proof for the annual income of his/her parents or guardian.

Extracurricular activities are held under ARMSCON, the annual Fest XTACIA, and sports meet. Various sports like cricket, basketball, football, badminton, tennis, chess and volleyball are organized. Apart from sports, cultural events include singing and dancing competitions. Various Art and craft events are also organized.

Yes, I reside in Boys Hostel. The hostels which are old as expected are not fascinating. The new hostels are quite impressive. 24×7 water and electricity supply is maintained. The mess is there in every block. A gym is there for the boys.

As such I don't have alumni network but I know of my seniors in college. Seniors are very helpful. They guide us in academics. Seniors guide us on how to study for an exam. They also tell us the important topics.

Admission in all the medical colleges (both government and private) is done through a single exam - NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test). This test is conducted for the students from all over India. Admission procedures are then handled by DGHS, Chandigarh.

PGIMS Rohtak is one of the oldest and reputed medical colleges in India. The faculty here is highly qualified and experienced. Due care is taken for the medical education of students. Teachers also focus on the practical and clinical knowledge. One thing that I personally feel is that there is a bit of a lack of interaction between students and faculty.
