Dislikes
- College has a lot of fights everyday happening with the locals nearby.
- College is overall good but the intake of students in a program each year increases which creates a lot of competition.
- College doesn't gaurantee you an internship or placement. Try off campus if possible.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is not that relevant i guess. Well because in your first year you're learning python and Java all together in one year. And then suddenly you switch to c++ and you're doing DSA, operating system, DBMS, software engineering all in one year. If this could be improved than I thing the throughput will definitely increase. I would suggest that atleast give us time to practice DSA in second year. It's so chaotic. But one good thing that you're developing projects, writing research papers and performing practical implementations of what you're learning in college. And it's part of the curriculum. Faculties are all phds and mostly iit scholars. The exams are not that difficult but I think they could be planned better. Well to get results you need to hustle.
Internships Opportunities
As such there has been no internship updates from college about internships yet. But yeah they're good expectations from my side. And seeing the previous year batch, internship stipends can reach upto 1.5 lakhs as provided by Google and microsoft.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee structure goes as follows: Without scholarship you've to pay 360,000 annually for btech cse program as tuition. And hostel fees for double sharing rooms goes as 87,500 approx and for triple sharing it goes around 75,000 . Hostel fees include everything from mess to janitor guys. Everything is paid for, well by you. And if you're taking bus service for semester the bus service fees is around 30,000. For other programs I don't know Now with scholarship: Depends on your academic scores and extra curricular such as in sports, etc. I had good score in board exam so I got 35% scholarship and this was around in 2022. But there is a catch. It'll be applicable only for first year. From next year, if your cgpa is above or equal to 8 then only your scholarship will continue. So I've a scholarship of 126,000 annually. For other programs I don't know much. But the highest fee charged is only for btech programs in mt knowledge. Initially they'll ask you to pay 1,00,000 to book your seat and it's refundable. Security charges are around 45,000. All the amounts mentioned above are in Indian rupees.
Campus Life
Annual cultural fest: euphoria, is organized by the student council. It has many competitions for participants to take part in. And last time 'shaan' the singer was called for performing. And tech fest: zenevia is organized by scset team, it organizes lots of fun events and coding events. You can win great prize money here. Also there are food stall organized by the organizing committee for students where you can buy food from. There are many clubs you can be part of such as gfg, gdsc, etc. All lecture rooms are equipped with projector and centralized ac. For sports there is swimming pool, indoor basketball, kabadi, badminton court as well as tt tables. Also we've big football ground along with pickle ball and squash.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility are top notch.24 hour ac is provided along with room service. Washrooms are dirty though for boys hostel I must say. Do bring some kind of sanitizer spray with you before using the washrooms. You get warm and cold water for bathing so that's good. Menu of the mess is good but the quality is not good. It's not affordable though. Paying 87,500 rupees for semester is not worth it and that too in double sharing. You can see rooms in omicron if you want to rent. Or near alpha 1 or 2.
Admission
This was the only college I applied to as it seemed fit according to my parameters. I wanted that there should be no dress code, must've good placements, faculty should be supporting, and sports must be supported. And of course must celebrate fests with a big fat budget. The admission process is very simple. Just apply and if you met the selection criteria, you'll get a call. I had 90% in boards, for which I got 35% scholarship. But not it's much strict. Just one thing, wifi speed is one thing that's not so great. And if you live nearby college don't chose hostel, you'll waste your money.
Faculty
Starting from first year, for python we had sonal kukreja ma'am. She's the best. If you need any kind of advice or help or anything just approach her. Aprat from academics if you need advice on entrepreneurship then our former of dean of academics, dr.vinod shastri sir is your go to guy. He's also the person you can be best friends with. I hope you got what I meant. Then for linear algebra you can go to dr. Gopinath sahoo. He is a gem. No one can beat him in the entire college. It's the way he makea a topic so easy to grasp. Then for electrostatics you go to dr.subhadeep mondal sir. He'll explain you a topic again from beginning even if you reach late in lecture. And for statistics and probability you can go to dr.tanveer ahmed. He also provides internship opportunities to students who's good at AI. Now talking about exams: there will be one mid sem and one end term in each semester. One good thinking is that there is relative marking while calculating the grade for your subject. If a student fails to clear an exam then he has to either repeat the semester or can do summer school. There is a seperate fees for subject to be paid. It's according to the number of credits that subject is accounted for. Faculty to student raito is very small. Current btech cse batch is around 4000. So yeah it's bad. But one good thing is that the connectivity and flexibility a student has to meet the faculties is great. One ofthe best things trust me.
Night Life
Gym timings are from 4 am to 11 pm. So go when you like. Mess has specific timings but other than that there are food outlets which opens till dawn. Library open from 9 am to 11 pm and in exam it is extended till 2 am in the night. You can roam inside campus just except few places. Maggi point is something which is a place which has the most traction of students. Eat maggi, talk to friends and make bonds and live life. You can have food deliveries anytime. No timings as such. Night life is awesome here. Locality is not safe though. So I would not recommend you to roam alone outside in night. And don't pick up unnecessary fight with locals unless you want to get beaten up good.
