What Students Say
Likes
- The best thing about this college is the faculty. The faculty there is very good. Very understanding. They actually listen to your issue and they try to resolve that at their level best. Also the study there is very good specially the content
- Other thing I like about the university is the extra co-activities and events which are being organised by the university. Students actually participate in that events which enhances their social ability and their interaction.
- The University also offers amazing placements and internship programmes, which helps student to pursue their career in the best way, also, the placements are very good packages and the students actually availed those placements.
Dislikes
- I think which I disliked about the university is their extra fee, which they take. If your attendance is not 75% a student will have to pay a fine of ₹8 to 10,000 to give their exam again. If a student gets detained in a particular subject.
- Another thing is a student cannot apply medical leave for less than three days like if you are sick for one or two days, you cannot apply medical leave. You have to apply medical leave for more than three days and up to 10 days.
- There are restrictions on the dressing of the students, especially the girls are not allowed to wear short dresses or informal clothes in the college, and the boys are also told to dress up in formals
Course Curriculum Overview
so my course is liberal arts, and then after first semester, you are given a choice of choosing one subject as your major, so I choose English as my major subject and I think the study and the content is awesome and superb. The content, which is being taught it's very much relevant to the particular subject, and I think if a person wants to pursue their masters and PhD in that particular subject, it will be super useful for them. we are actually out from the novels and case studies from the real world and not only that we have some compulsory subjects like negotiation, guidance and counselling, which actually develops a person as a human being, and I think that is very important for student, specially of liberal arts to study these kind of subjects which actually helps them in future and also in the social interaction
Internships Opportunities
There are many companies which comes to our university for the placements and our university has type with mini multinational companies like Google. And it actually depends upon your course, which course you have, so the internship programs are conducted on the basis of your course differently And to get a good placement, you should maintain a CGPA of 7.5 every semester and also a minimum attendance of 75 to 80%
Placement Experience
The University offers amazing placements with packages starting from two lakhs per annum to 18 or 50 lakhs per annum. It actually depends upon the courses and how much compatible you are in your academics as well as your extra curricular activities. There are companies which actually comes from a different parts of India with their offers of taking students and enrolling them in their companies. There are special placement programmes and placement workshops which guide students about different companies and different placements which they can get in their last semester. Most probably but there are some companies which takes freshers also from the first year of the second years. the University keep sending such information in the class groups.
Fees and Financial Aid
First, you need to get your admission done for that you can give the CUCET exam which is in common entrance exam for Chandigarh University or you can get their admission on the basis of your 12th class result. There is a scholarship on the basis of this entrance exam, and on the basis of your 12th class result, you can choose anyone of these. Then after getting a scholarship or else, if you did not get any scholarship, you will have to get your admission done for that you'll have to pay ?5000 on the very first day of getting your admission done. Then you just have to pay your fees according to the course and the examination fee, there is 2500 per semester. Also, if you get a scholarship, you will have to maintain a CGPA of 7.5, every semester to avail that scholarship in your next upcoming semester, otherwise, your scholarship will be removed and you will have to pay the full fees.
Campus Life
I think the overall experience is very good because I am a student who is good in studies and at the same time, very good in the co curricular activities . The university offers great opportunities, whether it is in the field of sports, dance, theatre, singing, or anything. There are life concerts for the students of which includes a very famous personalities, including singers, actors, dancers, and sports persons The best thing about the university is a perfect blend of studies and enjoyment There are special leaves provided the students who are participating outside the university, also, so you can pursue your career with the university.
Hostel Facilities
The facilities of Good. I did not like the hostel life because of my personality, but my friends are staying in the hostel and according to them, the hostels are very good. The quality of the meal is very nice. They serve you different meals, four times a day, breakfast, lunch evening, snack, and the dinner, and the menu is different for all the seven days at the hostel rooms has one single bed one cupboard. Then they also have a cooler. There are no private washrooms, but a common washrooms with 10-12 washrooms at every floor. If a person wants to rent a PG or a flat, the locality which is near Chandigarh University is correct. You can easily get any flat or PG if you wanna live there. I'll suggest the students to actually go for PG or Flat because the life outside the university is better to explore
Admission
Okay, so I actually applied for the Delhi University, but the result was about to announce very late, so I had to go to the Chandigarh University because it is a private university and you can get admission here at any time of the semester I gave the entrance of Chandigarh University and I avail the scholarship of hundred percent. I gave the entrance exam of CUCET and I scored 93 marks in that so I got hundred percent scholarship. I did not pay any fee for two years. I only paid the examination fees, but after that in my third year, my scholarship was removed because I could not maintain the CGPA of 7.5 as I did not give the MST's. I think if you really wanna study and you want to enjoy the college life, Chandigarh University is very much perfect for you because it has a perfect blend of academics and social life College life.
Faculty
The best thing about the college is the faculty, specially in my course of liberal arts. The faculty is very nice, very understanding and very cooperative. Even if a student is like failed to submit an assignment or something, the teachers actually consider their problems and gives them time. Also, if a student has some serious issue, the teachers actually listen to them and give him attendance. Also there is no pressure on the students from the side of teachers. They are very lenient and are very good teachers in the aspect of academics too. Now if you talk about the examinations, every semester you will have a three exam examinations. First is your MST one which is midsemester test and then you will have MST2, which is midsemester test two, and then after the end of the semester, you will have your final examination. The MST's are of 20 marks, each subject, and the final exam examination is of 60 marks each subject. The exam examination is not that tough if you have studied like what what is the class or you have studied from the material which is provided by the teachers, you can easily score good marks in your exam examinations.
Night Life
I is there in hostel for about six months and to be very honest. I did not like the life of the hostel. It is just because I am a person who is very much homely, so I could not adopt the environment of the hostel, the food is nice. It is edible . The hostel timings are different for boys and girls. The girls are not allowed to roam around the campus after seven or 8 PM in the evening. I have to get inside the hostel And also there are a very nice cafes around the universities near every academic block. There are around 7 to 8 cafes and eating shops which is very much affordable for students. There are libraries in every academic block. The university has huge campus with huge gardens in front of every block. So students can sit there in their free timings and free periods. The student can remain in the campus for around seven or 8 PM. I guess and if they have a particular event in the university, they can get the permission and can stay there for more long.
