What Students Say
Likes
- The classrooms in SHSS are clean and spacious.
- The entire department building has centralized AC.
- And the history faculty is also quite good.
Dislikes
- The campus Wi-Fi is abismal and is at times worse than 4G
- The Network connectivity is terrible at times.
- The IT department is also not helpful, I contacted them multiple times complaining about the poor Wi-Fi
Course Curriculum Overview
Sharda University follows the Uttar Pradesh state curriculum, which in my opinion is terrible for history. I'd have preferred the history syllabus to include more of the world history and not tunnel vision on just india. You also can't choose what Value Added Course or Skill Enhancement Course you get here
Internships Opportunities
The first year students are not allowed to take up any internships. And I happen to be a first year student as of yet. But for second year the first intership opportunity you get as far as I know is not paid.
Fees and Financial Aid
Semester wise fee is 61500 and Annual fee is 120000 for first year which does increase later on. You can get scholarship based on your 12th board marks or cuet marks, whichever is higher and you can get upto 100% scholarship (for first year only)
Campus Life
The library is adequate if you only need the books from your syllabus. The art club is... Useless to say the least. It's just a whatsapp group to share your artwork with others and get information about art related events they organise sometimes. The Wi-Fi and network is really bad so don't fall for the "Wi-Fi campus" on the brochures
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are too expensive for what they're worth, I am in a 9 feet by 12 feet two seater room which costs me 190000 annually and since It Is an AC room It costs an extra 20000 security deposit too. The food is... Manageable at best.
Admission
The crowd and faculty is good, you can apply through either their own entrance test or through CUET. I went to the education fair in pragati maidan, new Delhi, and of all the universities there, sharda and Amity seemed to be 2 options for me. And I choose against Amity due to the distance and crowd.
Faculty
The marking scheme is confusing, but as far as I understood, for most subjects: 50 marks for class assessment, 50 marks for mid semester exams, And 100 for end semester exams. The faculty to student ratio ranges from 10-90 depending on the subject.
Interview Experience
There was no group discussion or anything since I had already given the cuet. I just had a personal interview where they asked, "why you chose this college?" Or "What are your strengths and weaknesses."
Night Life
There cafeterias dotted around every where. The closest market however is over 2 km away, so it is kinda remote in its location. But you can easily find food stalls just outside campus. The girls have to be back in hostel by 9 pm and boys by 10 pm.
