Course Curriculum Overview
The course obviously has everything to make a good doctor. Being a doctor will place you in emergency situations sometimes and we are taught well how to deal with them. Although as MBBS doctors the spectrum of patients we see are limited. Its only after post-grad that u can get to see more patients.
Internships Opportunities
There's a mandatory internship after MBBS with a salary of almost 30k per month for 1 year. After internship, students can apply for NEET-PG/INICET or Non-Acad JRship at the hospital which have a salary of 90k per month.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for entire curriculum of 4.5 years is 5.5k. After this we have a paid internship with a salary of almost 30k per month. Mess fees comes to be around 3-3.5k per month. Scholarships are available for SC/ST categories and are informed time to time by administration.
Campus Life
Annual festivals like Retina and Pravaah are held every year. Both are cultural and sport fests. Generally held in winter months. Library has a large collection of books and also a large database of journals like BMJ etc. Classrooms are well-established and equipped with projectors.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rooms are well-equipped with a cupboard, a study table, bed and a closet. No fees for hostels as such. Mess facilities are not good and need to be improved. Registration process is simple and taken care by administration
Admission
I was a permanent resident of Maharashtra, so I had 2 options considering my AIR of 556, i could either join Seth GSMC, Mumbai or AIIMS Bhopal. I chose AIIMS Bhopal because its an INI (Institute of National Importance), better hostels (single occupancy vs 4-5), a large hospital and research activities at AIIMS Bhopal. For admission, you'll have to clear the NEET-UG exam and get a good rank (under 600 if you're general category). The remaining admission process is quite easy.
Faculty
Faculties are doctors and consultants themselves so expect to get the best from the best. Faculty-student ratio varies in every circumstance. For lectures, it's 1:125, at the Dissection Hall in 1st year it'd be 1:10, for clinical postings it'd be 1:25. There are half-yearly exams every year and then a final professional exam at the end of every year. Easy to pass if you can study at the last moment and remember everything. Passing % is 50% for every exam so a lot of students fail as well.
Night Life
Hostel timings are restricted to 12am. Bhopal is at best a tier 2 city so night life is not so good. Hangout places include a Nescafe near Library and one near Hospital. Locality is safe to roam around at night
