What Students Say
Likes
- There were a lot of sports activities and competitions to take part in and there was also free food given during the competition for the competitors
- The labs like physics lab chemistry lab and the computer lab were well maintained and all the required materials were there for all the students to perform the practical
- The library was really big and there was enough space for many students to study together and the environment was well maintained by all the students
Dislikes
- Some departments like general section where students have to submit their exam forms were really pathetic they work really slow and students have to wait in really long queue for many hours to get theri form submitted
- The behaviour of some staff (mostly clerks) was rude ( not professors ) they sometimes took our identity card without any reason
- The canteen food was sometimes not available though it was of good quality but they kept very less quantity
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose this course because I was form science background and I wasn't interested in engineering and this was the best course for me cause I was preparing for government exam and I got enough time during the course for my preparation along with the degree . The course and curriculum does prepare for real world if we study seriously and it gives enough time to study for other academic pursuits like NDA or CDS although the exams were unpredictable because sometimes there was a gap of 8 months between 2 semester and sometimes not even of 3 months so they should improve their exams timings and teaching methods were all good but the marking scheme was bad cause teachers usually likes when we write the answer in their language but we don't know in which college will our exam sheet will get checked and we write in the language which our teachers have taught so there is a scope of improvement there The difficulty of exams was moderate to difficult and their timings was unpredictable it was a moment of surprise when the exam notice came suddenly technically there should be a gap of 6 months between 2 semesters but sometimes there was a gap of 8 months and sometimes not even of 3 months
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees for B.Sc. ( physics, chemistry, maths) was around Rs. 1800 to Rs. 2000 and the registration fees was also somewhere around Rs. 2000. Also there was a lab fees for Rs. 120 for performing practical exam in the lab ( breakage charge) and there was also a scholarship programme for students with poor financial condition in some cases there fees was reduced to Rs. 1000 or even less and also the fees for SC and ST students was less
Campus Life
The campus of NAS college was good infact it was among one of the best in meerut the library was large the playing ground was really really big and there were racing track and basketball courts and football field also there was a large space for spectators there were a lot of tress planted along all the paths inside the college and the dogs inside the college were really friendly students used to sit and chat and play with their friends I always used to sit with my friends in the garden area in the college in winter for sunlight and fresh air after the class and it was a really good environment to interact with all the people There were a lot of empty classrooms we would snuck in and enjoy our life to the fullest it was the best time of our life , we also took part in the college vollyball team and it was a good experience competing to other college students There were a lot of social clubs like music or dance club I was not a part of any of the club but I joined art club the environment there was very friendly and artistic it was the best club amongst all of the clubs
Admission
I choose NAS college because it was the best among neighbouring colleges as there were regular classes as compared to other colleges and the students were also good as compared to other colleges, during my admission I filled NAS college as my first preference Meerut College as my second preference and DN college as my third luckily I got selected in the second list of NAS college and Meerut College studies were fine but the students were all stupid and engaged in all fights and other activities and in DN college studies were not so good After I got selected for admission in NAS college in second merit list cause I scored 84% in 12th and the 1st list closed at 90% so I got selected in second list which closed at 82% then I went to college to pay the registration fees and fill the admission for and got it signed by the college proctor It was a simple process but it was lengthy cause there were queues and it was time consuming around 2 to 3 hours overall experience was fine.
Faculty
The faculty was overall good all the professors of all the department were really helpful the classes were regular and also the practical practice in the labs there were some clerks who were rude but overall staff was good and helpful. The best faculty was of physics department the clerks were also really helpful and there were 8 professors their classes were on time and they were always ready to help the students in every way possible they also helped students on matters that were not of their department but also on other problems students faced like ragging and all. The maths department was the least helping department though they took classes on time but the student to teacher ratio was really poor there were only 3 professors and they sometimes sent their PhD Students to take our classes also they were kind of lazy to help but in the end they always helped us the only reason for me to not like this department was their laziness and the poor student-teacher ratio. The course of B.Sc. in physics chemistry and maths was simple but still a little bit complex there were 6 semesters in 3 years that is 2 semester per year and the exams were conducted in 2 phases that is internal exams and external exams. The internal exams where conducted by the college itself and it was of 25 marks it was easy and scoring marks was also easy in this exam and the marking scheme was also good . The external exams were conducted by the University and they were the main exams of 75 marks ( total 100 internal + external ) and 33% marks were required to pass in every subject the marking scheme was not good and these exams were very tough as compared to the internal exams
Night Life
Well to be honest I never really spent night in the college campus because our college was closed at 6 p.m. in the winters and at 7 p.m. in the summer but the evening time was great we had much free time to roam with friends sit in the library and the computer lab there was no gym in our campus but there was one in the neighborhood and most of my friends went to that gym there was also special student discount in that gym and the Bakery shops near the college were also good to have a snack when the college canteen was out of food and it was quite affordable the street was quite busy and there were a lot of food stalls and soda stalls in front of the college
