What Students Say
Likes
- I enjoyed the campus life as being a college with a pan india influence the influx from all the various corners of the nation provided us to interact with a wide variety of people
- The infrastructure is top notch with various facilities equally both in campus as well as hostel. To name a few the Gym and the football turf was one of the most visited places for me in my time and that place was too perfect for me.
- The mess food was enjoyable for me at least with good food served 4 different times in the day. Festivals are also recognized with the menu changing accordingly as per need. There are Jain and Sick Options as well if required by the student.
Dislikes
- The locality of the college and the nearby areas weren't safe and convenient for starters. The fact that the college is in the middle of the highway over 24kms away from the Jaipur main city was never helpful.
- The administration of both the hostel as well as campus is pretty bad and slow with complexities at various points for simple tasks that is very unnecessary.
- The overall culture surrounding the college is very unserious and toxic which tends to change your psychic irreversibly for the worse
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was pretty standard as per any other engineering college. Being a computer science student our course consisted of DSA,OOPS,RDBMS,CN which is expected out of any average student having our background. We had labs for each of these courses which provided us the much needed practical experience. However I personally felt that this could some improvement in terms of communication and reaching out to students and connecting with them. There are electives in our course as well and I took Cloud Computing as my choice and was frankly a bit disappointed with the lack of practical exposure that I was looking for. The class duration would be around 45 minutes for the period of 5 days on the average with our first class being from around 9 AM to the last being till 6PM.
Placement Experience
The placements in my college this year was honestly not upto the mark as per the previously set standards. The average ranged around 6.5-7 LPA and the number of companies coming on campus took a hit due to the global recession. The no of companies that came were near about 80-90 in number with some of the popular ones named are - DELL, SUN Life, Celebal, TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Capegemini, Accenture, Deloitte,EY, PWC, LTIMindtree etc.The percentage was around 80-85% in my knowledge.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees yearly was around 250000 from the 2nd year till the very last in 4th. While in the first year it was around 350000. As per my knowledge that value has been changed and its way more costly now. There are various scholarships based on the test score from MET, sports and army backgrounds.
Campus Life
The number of co-curricular / extra-curricular activities is very abundant in number and the college + hostel life is anything but quiet. The main cultural fest is named Oneiros which happens in the month of November usually, while Abhivarta and Techideate are the Sports and Technical fests respectively. The number of books, papers and journals in the library are sufficient and comprehensive enough to a good standard. The classrooms are modern but not having a fan is suriprising for organization this big. The campus is well equipped for people of all sport interests and is nothing short in that. Numerous clubs are there for people to take part in such as Dramatics, Dance, Books, Computers, Robotics etc.
Hostel Facilities
The Hostel is really out of the work with rooms that can challenge any 3-star hotel easily. The mess is nice too and better than other colleges in india. They also offer options for other sort of meals as per requirement such as Jain,Festivals and also food for when you are unwell. Overall its really great and gives a 360 balanced diet which keeps you healthy. Only downside is the mess is to be taken compulsorily along with the hostel.
Admission
The Manipal Brand was enough for me to choose MUJ. The fact that my degree was a mixture of ECE and CSE attracted me a lot. The admission process for my college is through the Manipal Entrance Test (MET) only which takes place India wide. I had the option fof KIIT and SRM as well but chose this college. The eagerness to go out from my hometown to a place like Jaipur appealed to me.
Faculty
The faculty in my stream was good and they try to do the most for us and always have the best interests in their favour. But overall its nothing extraordinary but it isn't that bad too. Faculties can never be all the same and I had the privilege to be guided under a lot of good mentors and its good to be in their notice in a positive way. Lastly the exams were challenging at times with two main exams being conducted every semester which are known as Mid Sems and End Sems. The study for these exams tend to be last minute only like every college with ample materials provided by the faculty for our help and if not the internet was always our friend.
Interview Experience
Yes the admission process is through MET(Manipal Entrance Test) itself. Based on the scores that you obtain there are various levels of counselling that take place based on your rank and you get the branches accordingly as per availability. The exam is relatively easy with questions upto 12th Science such as Physics,Chemistry and Math.
Night Life
The college is very much in the outskirts of Jaipur so there is no good night life as such all though staying in the hostel is very much sufficient as something or the other is available till 2 at night The hostel gates close at 9PM at night while the college ones for day scholars close at 6PM. The college surroundings though not safe as such has nearby small cafes and eateries nearby for students. While the hostel in itself has a lot of places for people hang around in.
