Course Curriculum Overview

5

I always wanted to be a doctor, so I appeared in NEET UG 17 and got a rank that would fetch me an mbbs degree. I preferred to study in kolkata, butI could not get that, and my first choice in periphery was Murshidabad Medical as the transportation is easy, the college is located JUST NEAR the railways station, the college is well esatblished and city is cool.. and hence this choice. The curriculum prepares you not only for further academics, but also to be a good Doctor, as the patinet load is pretty much here, and the variety of cases that you get is mind blowing. Although there are scopes of improvement in academics, specially during the internship period. Like there could be more extra classes during this time and neet pg oriented classes. The MB exams are conducted By the WBUHS, at the end of every academic session, around 1year, and they are pretty difficult and unpredictable. Semester exams are conducted at a frequency of 4-5months, moderate difficulty. Part exams are held every 2-3 weeks and are usually simple. Quizzes and seminars are conducted in few subjects at regular intervals, varies from subject to subject.

Internships Opportunities

5

Internship is a must and part of your mbbs course. U will be posted in every department for a limited period so that you can learn all the clinical aspects. Basically this period is to see and learn. You get to learn the very basic skills like drawing blood sample, IV Canulation, stitches, Normal delivery, etc. The most important part is that you learn to deal with emergencies.

Placement Experience

5

You can start practicing as an independent doctor only after completing internship, and getting registered to a council. During internship you get paid >31k/m The college provides housestaffship to students according to their ranks in academics, @monthly pay of 50k/m After the degree one can go for private practice, or for government MO jobs, or prepare for NEET PG for further studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tutition fees: 4500/semester, 9 semesters in total Caution deposit: 1000, refunded at the end of course Hostel fees: 144/yr The course is very much affordable. Fees is meagre in comparision to the facilities provided. Fees same accross all categories. Fees is accpeted in CASH. Government Scholarships availble for certain categories like BPL,SC, ST, OBC.

Campus Life

5

CHRONAXIE is the thing for which we wait for whole year, the annual fest which involves the entire college. Famous artists such as MONALI THAKUR, MD IRFAN, AMIT MISRA, NAKASH AZIZ havr performed here. Mnay famous bands like FOSSILS, FAKIRA, M SONIC ETC have also performed. DJs are a must during these. Even students get to perform dance or song performances, fashion show, drama etc. There are multiple contests during this event as well. Apart from fest, BIENVENUE is the freshers event, conducted every year with great charm. AVSEENDE is the teacher's day celebration. Foundation day celebrated on 1st aug every year. Quizzes and debates, CMEs are part and parcel of a med students life. The grandest of all is the CONVOCATION cermemy every year, including batch night, known as AU REVOIR.

Hostel Facilities

5

Usually 2 people are alloted one room. U will have a common bathroom. Water can be bought or taken from the aquaguard. Menu is good and flexible, canteeen options are plenty within the campus. And food is moderate in taste. U get hostel allotment after admission and its affordable, just 12/month I lived in hostel and didn't rent room /pg.

Admission

I also applied for the medical colleges in kolkata like MCK, SSKM, NRS, RGK, CNMC. But as we know, neet demands rank, and my rank was not enough to fetch me a college in kolkata. But over time, I came over it, and now I'm happy to be a part of MSD-MCH. The admssion process is simple, you get an allotment through the online portal. After that you need to go to the college for admssion woth required documents like: Allotment letter, neet admit and rank card, birth proof, ID proof, 10th marksheet, 12th marksheet, 12th pass certificate, photos, amd definitely photo copies of all the docs. The exact docs required will be given in the WBMCC portal. For fee payment, there are options like: DEMAND DRAFT, CHEQUE, ETC(Every year the rules change so go through the portal). Cash is not accepeted. NEET UG IS THE ONLY EXAM THROUGH WHICH WHICH U GET THE COLLEGE ADMISSION.

Faculty

5

The faculty is very competent, and experienced along with the fact that they are all very helpful. They are very much approachable for any problem regarding studies or even personal life. Even though all the faculties were great, to name a few, we had Walliullah sir in physiology, SSB sir in anatomy, biocehmistry department was gem. In pharma mainak sir, tanmay sir, Lopa maam were all legends. Com.med had Sharmila maam and Ritu maam. In our final year we got to learn from the best lot, be it Hamid sir, Kapil sir, Biswajit sir, CRC sir, arnab sir... all of them were great, though imissed many. As for dislike... I had no personal hate towards anyone. EXAMS: There are 9 semsters which are pretty easy to clear. But the real game is in the 4MB exams cinsisting of written and practicals. I perosnally felt that the 1st and Final MB are the most difficult ones as in these exams the syllabus is out of propprtion conpared to the time we got. With Regular studies and proper guidance, one can easily pass the exams (50%). Of you pit some more efforts you can grab honors (75%) in few subjects too. About >80%, and you can score into your college topper list!!!

Interview Experience

5

The Exam u need to crack is NEET UG.(Biology 90q+ chemistry 45q+ physics 45q) MCQ based You need about percentile >98% to get this college within the UR category. Also your combined Biology +physics+ chemistry class 12 marks should be>50%

Night Life

5

Night life is great here.... Walking with friends at night and having a sip of tea at Bhagirathi is an emotion for us. Canteens are oK. The hospital itself is a public area and hence u are never alone here. And also, its pretty safe. There is no specific timings for us since our classes and duties are at night many times. Grnad gossip, gossip more, fame hotel, mohan mall, etc are some famos areas, even though the city is full of such areas.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, mbbs is very hard and long term process. You will be bored in 1st year because you cant get real clinical cases. But in Final year, 3rd Prof Part 2, you will get huge pressure. Because there are total 11 subjects, you should study in final year. It is a great burden for all. I'm not satisfied with Nmc curriculum. They are not thinking about students. They are implement their rules in chilled ac room. But they don't know the real scenarios.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very noble. It gives us the power to heal others. When I was a child, i was impressed by the ability and skills of a doctor. The patient family were treating him like god. So i decided to pursue it because of the amount of respect and wealth we gain. In the real world it helps us to become a good person, interact with the injured society and connect to the people emotionally. Teaching methods could be improved by giving more and more real life examples and exposing to the wards and clinics. Learning is more fun when we do more practicals. The college must ensure that more and more practical classes and clinical exposure is given to the students so that they can learn effeciently. The cases of the cirriculum should be given to the students to look how they handle it.

The concept of education is misunderstood my many students. Students want to study in order to make money and become rich so that they can fulfill their wants. Similarly money is invested by parents in terms of the amount of investment it will reap in the future. Because of this reason females are not given much higher education in our country.
