What Students Say
Likes
- I really liked the infrastructure and the facilities. We had several labs with good instruments. Including 2 Cessna and 1 helicopter.
- The faculties were really good, always ready to help and even stay in touch after passing out. They reach out to students for reasearch projects and even help them gain scholarship for matsers
- The culture of SRM is great, one can find students from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
Dislikes
- Few faculties do discriminate for not being from Tamil Nadu, but it's manageable
- Obviously the food is not that great, specially for people coming from north
- There's only local train available to reach the main city, which is a bit hectic at times.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is well designed. From first year they start with the very basic phy, chem and maths. Later on in second year they dive into the core subjects. In third year students are required to choose there electives based on their interests All the subjects included in the syllabus are well incorporated at the right place and becomes very helpful in the future for masters or job as well There are 3 internal exams before the final Sem exam. The exam is designed according and has three levels It's not tough to pass but yeah getting a gold medal is obviously difficult because the high level questions are always conceptual.
Internships Opportunities
With the help of placement coordinator it's easy to get internships and jobs. They are very helpful. I myself did few internship one of them was in DRDO. The faculties always encouraged students to take part in reasearch projects and publish papers. Go for conference as well
Placement Experience
Around 80-85% of the students were placed. Around the end of third year students are asked to choose whether they want to sit for placement or go for higher studies. Based on the students choice they are assigned extra trainings apart from regular classes which will help them to secure a good job or a good college for master's The highest package is 1Cr and the avg is 8LpA I got placed in a welll reputed company in my core industry from the college
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee per year was 3,75,000, this includes tuition fee only. There is scholarship available for students having CGPA above 9.5. Buying books was not compulsory. Before every sem exam there was exam fee that had to be paid which was around 3000. Students having defence background had to pay a very minimal amount for the tuition fee. The hostel fee was different and very high according. I never stayed in hostel.
Campus Life
There are two fests each year, one is cultural which is called Milan and another is technical which is called Aaruush Both are just amazing and provides a lot of opportunities to students to learn tech as well as social activities. Other than these two fest there are few other cultural programs that keeps on happening within the campus keeping it every engaged. There are VARIOUS tech clubs and cultural clubs for the students to learn much more than just classrooms.
Admission
I was already familiar with the place as I have done my schooling there. Also it's a well reputed college for its cultural diversity and placement as well. This made me choose this college for my UG compared to the other colleges I applied for.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is well maintained. The classes are not over crowded. The engagement in classes are also very well maintained. They build good relationships with their students both at personal and professional levels. The faculo usually have experience in the industry, so they share that with the students There are 3 exams conducted before the final Sem exam. These are considered for the internal marks of 50 and sem exam is conducted for another 50. I personally love this systems and as each internal exam the students has to study and at the end doesn't have to suffer all together. Very few students get a backlog if studied a little also it's not that tough to crack the exam The course curriculum is well designed for industrial purposes
