What Students Say?
Likes
- Campus Size is large and grounds are full of greenery.
- Faculty is great in few departments like Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Dislikes
- Bus Service, Students are forced to stay standing in bus despite of paying bus fees so that faculty can sit. Also, buses are overfilled
- Majority Computer labs are running Windows 8, That is discontinued by MicroSoft. Hence outdated learning experience.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course is outdated and does not allign with what industry demands. App Development and Web Development are core skills bur aren't taught in college. Only basic programming and basic DSA is taught. Teaching method is outdated and boring. Computer science is taught like philosophy dispite it is a practical subject. College curriculum does not prepare students to work in industry, students themselves have to aquire skills for jobs and internships. Exams: 2 midterms per semester, 1 main (RTU) exam per semester.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are mostly off campus, a few companies may visit college for internships. If you don't get internships, you'll have to attend courses and college will exempt internship. I've done an internship through college in Flutter App Development at Editors Chamber. I had to build multiple apps and debug and improve previous apps. College served as an intermediatry for the company as the company owners were our Alumni.
Placement Experience
4th Year students are eligible for campus placements. Average campus placement package is around 3LPA to 5LPA. The big numbers are only from off campus placements. Companies that generally hire are: Secure Meters, AppPerfect, GKM IT, Advaiya, Websenor, V2 Solutions and some more local companies. I personally aim for off campus placement for better growth.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee structure for B.Tech is approx 1,00,000 per year, that makes it about 50,000 per semester. Per Semester Fee includes many components like Training (Close to 5000), Book Bank (1000-2000) and even fresher's party charges. You have to pay the full fees regardless of availing training or not, or have taken the books or not. Bus service is optional, for 12,000 per 2 semsters. If the semesters ends early, bus membership also ends. There are scholarships available for Economical Weaker Sections (EWS) and Bihar and Jammu based students. The fees tends to increase around 10% every year. Though the facilities remain to stay the same. Availing government based scholarships is very tedious as college does not help in the process. Also, you may have to pay extra if you want to avail bus service for only 5-6 Days during main exams, and that is expensive for 1500-2000 for 5-6 days. In conclusion, the college will try to charge as much money as possible for bare minimum facilities.
Campus Life
There are 2 annual fests for freshers. Fresher's Party (Held in October/ November/ December) and one pool party (End of first year). Books are available in good quantity but are mostly old. Only technical books are present. Tech facilities are very outdated at times. Computer labs run Windows 8 mostly and WiFi speeds are pathetic. Sports are there but you won't get time to play. Once a year IIT Jodhpur organizes a sports tournament, you can participate in GITS Team. Clubs are: Google developer, student club, IEEE, AlgoZenith Coding Club (I've been lead in this)
Admission
I had to live in my home town so only Geetanjali and Techno NJR were options as these two offer RTU Degree. Techno's Campus was very small and conjusted. Geetanjali seemed to be nice before admission as everyone beahved nicely, post admission everyone in management is rude. As being in home town, big campus and RTU degree was needed, Geetanjali was the only option. They give admission to anyone who can pay them fees. No eligibility is there as such. Offline meeting with management will give you a seat in college. JEE Score and Board Exam scores can be shown but do not matter in admission. Admission can be taken from Campus or city office.
Faculty
Each classroom has 60-70 students and one faculty for each subject. There are 6 theory subjects in each semester. Teachers tend to be rude and only a few of them are supportive. A faculty member is disliked the most by Computer Science students due to her narcissistic behaviour and forcing students to re-write/ re-print assignments even on a smallest mistake, forcing them to enroll in her mentored courses and not allowing students in practicals if they haven't enrolled. Mid terms are conducted twice in each semester and are quite easy to pass. It comes from taught course, but do not allign with final RTU (Rajasthan Technical University Exams).
