What Students Say?
Likes
- Some of the things that I like about my college is that there is a strong focus on studies and academics. There is good environment for students to interact with the facilities and labs for them to test their practical knowledge.
- There is a large emphasis given on the attendance criteria, so that the students attend the classes regularly. There is a kind of forcing on the students to become better which is a good thing. Also the amenities like labs, canteens are pretty good.
Dislikes
- The things that I disliked about the college is that sometimes they are really harsh on students by implementing unnecessary rules and regulations.
- For example - the students residing under 1.5 km of the college radius are relieved from paying bus fees. But if the student doesn't maintain 75% attendance, they have to pay the bus fees which is really illogical.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of our course is nice but it could better in the sense that the course is somewhat old. There should be improvement in the curriculum according to the the present time scenario where there is large development in technology.
Placement Experience
The placement opportunities in this college is quite good. The students gets eligible for sitting in placement drives by the end of 6th semester or start of 7th semester, depending upon the scenario of companies visiting. The companies visiting for campus recruitment include TCS,Wipro, Cognizant, Accenture, hexaware etc. Unfortunately rarely a product based company visits for recruitment. The average package provided for an applicant is around 4 to 5 lpa. But the highest package grabbed by our alumni so far is 70 lpa offered by Amazon. The student belonged our department only. If we talk about placement record of my department, it is usually 85-90% placements every year. My plans are also to prepare for the placement drives and get placed in a renowned company.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The course that I am pursuing is Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electronics & Communication Engineering. The basic fee of this 4-year course is Rs. 1,20,000 annually. The fees installment has to be submitted per semester according to your fee structure. The fee structure can vary from student to student depending upon their final agreement with the institution at the time of admission. As for me,the tuition fees I pay annually is Rs. 80,000 (40,000 per semester). There are facilities for people belonging to low-income backgrounds to reduce their fees through TFW(Tuition Fees Waiver). Some of my classmates who belong to this category have got their tuition fees reduced to as low as Rs. 30,000 annually.
Campus Life
There are several events held in our institution every now and then. Annually, a tech fest is organised which is the biggest event of the year. In that fest, many events are organised, ranging from technical, sports, cultural, to every type. Also there is large emphasis given on students to participate in at least one event. The Student Activity Council (SAC) is another club that college provides to the students to get involved in the management of the events held in the institution.
Admission
I chose this college because it is a renowned college in our city. Also it is one of the top colleges in our city that provides strong facilities for the students to get industry ready. It provides good placement opportunities and beyond that. The admission in this college, for my course B.Tech, is through JEE (Mains). The cutoff for admission in the course varies from branch to branch. The idea of choosing this college over the other colleges that I applied for was that - 1) I was not satisfied with the fees structure of other colleges. 2) My college is not much far from my home , easy conveyance.
Faculty
If I talk about the faculty of the institution, especially faculties of my department are truly experienced, knowledgeable and hard working. They are really good and always motivates every student to do better. They are easily approachable for sharing new ideas. And the examination conduction method is also really good. There are 2 mid sem exams conducted in a semester of max marks 20, and the marks obtained in those are used in final evaluation. There is no leniency in the exam conduction and no room for cheating.
Interview Experience
In my institution there is no process of any GD or tests for admission. The admission is mainly on the JEE criteria. If you qualify in that , then the admission is almost certain. But if we talk about the training and placement department, they make us prepare for GD and mock interviews to get ready for interviews in placement drives.
