- First and foremost is the behaviour of the faculty, they show great expertise at their job and is always there to help you out either in campus or out campus. They make sure you understand the basics of the chapters through detailed presentations.
- Secondly is the infrastructure, the campus is surrounded by greenery, theres a garden and there are two lakes one in the front and another in between boys and girls hostel. You can easily spend your leisure time with the beauty of mother nature
- The college boasts a strong WiFi connection all over the campus no matter where you're, You just need to connect using your college ID and you're good to go with an average of 30Mbps speed.
Dislikes
- There's no concrete platform for bike parking so during rainy day the ground becomes muddy and slippery. So have to carefully park the bikes so not to fall over. A concrete platform is much needed.
- The classes on top floors are not equipped with AC's so during summer it get's really hot.
- Although most of the facilities does their job really well, there's still some faculty members who doesn't does their job that well.
Course Curriculum Overview
Earlier I opted for Bachelor in Hotel Management course but later I stumbled on the idea of BBA Hospital Management because of the wide array of opportunities in the healthcare industry and also the availability of jobs, I then decided to go with NSHM, Durgapur as they had a great reputation for their Management courses and budget friendly fee structure. The curriculum focuseses on making everyone industry ready by the time one graduate by focussing on one's personality building and providing with the basics of the work life. However I think the couse is too much theory based, some practical experiences could make the learning process even more fun. The timing of exams are in accordance to MAKAUT's exam calendar. The difficulty is mediocre if you have learnt the topics well.
Internships Opportunities
This year about 30 Hospital chains came for the internship rounds, however not all of them offered stipend. The company with most internship benefit was Apollo Hospitals, Chennai and Delhi circle. Around 40% of the total students got internship from Apollo another Hospital with most benefit was AIG Group.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements in their last semester, i.e, after 5th Semester for us. The college gets good placements in Hospital Management. In the last placement cycle almost all the seniors got placed in reputable hospital. Mostly in Apollo Hospital, Delhi and Chennai, AIG Hospital, among others. Highest placement offered in the last placement cycle was of 9LPA to a MHA student and average placement is 5LPA. Around 90% students gets placed. Acter getting the degree I will sit for the College Placement Cycle and would aim to get placement at a reputable hospital with good amenities and salary and would also complete my MHA studies while working.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fee for our batch was 104200 per year for 3 years, but for all the new admissions the fees has been increased by 80,000 overall as the course has been increased from 3 year to now 4 years. No excess fees are required unless you're availing Hostel benefits which adds upto 15K-20K per year. The SVMCM Scholarship is available for students who had more than 60% marks in the last qualifying examination i.e, 12th. Another scholarship which is available is Asha Jyoti Scholarship for students with 70% marks in their last qualifying examination. Overall doing a management course from NSHM, Durgapur is budget friendly with great future opportunities.
Campus Life
There's an Annual Fest that takes place around January and go on for 4-5 days with sports championship, eSports, Dance compitition, Debates, and finally DJ Nights everyday for 4-5 days. The college also helds different cultural programmes. The library is a paradise for book lovers with a hige number of books, you can also access the books through NSHM Portal, which means you get seamless access to the books in the library no matter where you're. You can also donate your old books to the college library abd help them build the library even more vast. There's a student run club known as TMCP, it organises many campaigns for the like of students like the Campaign for RG Kar, and also a campaign for a lost student. Overall the club has a meaningful impact on the college life.
Admission
At first I decided to go to BC Roy Engineering College, but then I got selected at NSHM Knowledge Campus and thought that NSHM has great reputation in Management degrees, so I left tge admission at BC Roy and joined NSHM. Another college I applied to but didn't completed my registration was Amity University, Kolkata. I had to cancel the plan because of some sudden monetary strains. The eligibility criteria was pretty easy as any students from any stream can apply until they have above 50% marks in their last qualifying examination. Then a short Verbal examination is held at Reception desk after that you can continue with the paperworks and within a day you will get a Confirmation through EMail that your registration is successful. And around a month before the class starts you will get the credentials for College Mail ID which you can login through GMail and DigiiCampus (Application for all the important notices from NSHM and also fee payment).
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is where it's somewhat weak. Although all the subjects has different facilities but there's only one Batch Coordinator for every section, which is a bit hazzle for both the professor and the students. And there are 4 CR's from each section to ease out the batch coordinator's work. All the exams and marking patterns are decided by MAKAUT, West Bengal and NSHM takes exams in accordance to that rule, and so all the exams are relevant and designed keeping in mind about the course. Out of all the faculty members I like our Batch Coordinator Mrs. Babita Paul and our 1st year Batch Coordinator Mr. Prateek Singh, they provide great assistance to all the students and really care about them and goes extra mile to help us with any course related problems.
Interview Experience
Yes an Interview was taken by an official at the Reception Desk... It complies of basic things like your percentage in the last qualifying examinations, why you chose this course, do you have any basic knowledge about Hospitals, etc, Nothing too hard. You can answer the questions easily and be sure to answer confidently.
Other Applied Colleges
BC Roy Engineering College, Durgapur | BBA Hospital Management
Got admission at NSHM Knowledge Campus and NSHM is known for it's management courses so I thought it would be more reasonable to pursue BBA(HM) from NSHM than BC Roy.
Amity University | Bachelor of Business Administration [BBA]
