What Students Say
Likes
- The exposure the college provides, with the technical club culture, and certain student international exchange programs.
- Environment is friendly, teachers here are really helpful and not like just for the sake of teaching, they help you with projects and all the research you need
- Although all colleges have a 75% percent attendance criteria, but if a person fails to maintain it, you can submit extra assignments to make up for it
Dislikes
- Some college technical clubs (the best ones) here have nepotism for higher posts, as the president gives the posts to the next batch, they don’t respect efforts and give the posts to the people they are frank with.
- The girls to boys ratio is 30-70 which in my opinion is considered less.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum that influenced my decision to choose CSE was that I was into coding before even starting my college, which was really beneficial for me as I had an upper advantage over other students. The college provides with multiple academic persuits as whatever thing you're good at, say it aiml, iot, coding, or anything, the college gives you opportunities to grow as there are many hackathons, robo-wars and coding competitions from which you can make your own projects. The improvements can be done in the first year of engineering, because that can drastically decrease performance, as in the first year students are requested to study all kinds of subjects irrespective of their branch of engineering, some students may not be good at chemistry or biology, but they have to study that in first year, even if it is not required.
Internships Opportunities
Internship offers are not that great but not that bad too, on campus several known companies like google, microsoft visit but they take 2-3 students max. Average stipend ranges from 15,000 to 1,50,000 per month too, totally depends on your caliber. Internships offered is 93% You need to have a good profile on LinkedIn or knowledge on any of the field of your choice for a good internship, or a minor project would work.
Placement Experience
During the 6th semester, summer internships are available and students are given opportunities since then. All companies including Dell, Microsoft, Amazon (35 offers), Google, NVIDIA visit the college but the offers are less than 10 each. 70+ renounced comanies visit the college for placements, 97% students get placed But only 20% placements are above 15lpa
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearwise fees I paid (2023-2027 batch) was 3,73,000 per year and 10000 registration fees. Currently for the 2024 starting batch, the fees rose up to 4,10,000 per year. Scolarship is only provided to students who are state/all over India toppers, and that too if they maintain a 9+ cgpa.
Campus Life
The annual event oneiros (november) is the best cultural event as there is a 3 day event full of fun. The tech summits, and talk shows are done every 2 months where a speaker gives us tips to grow in every field you want to apply, either tech or marketing or entrepreneurship. The student-run social groups are there in the college and you get equal opportunities at the start whether you are social or anti social, I personally eas an introvert as a fresher but as time passed and I joined clubs and I interacted with people may it be through pitching or promoting or just knowing other people in the club, it made my confidence grrw drastically.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel services are great here, table, chair, bed, mattress, centralised ac, dustbins, 24hrs working geyser. The mess food is also good here, mess food is often criticised most everywhere but that's not the case here, it's decent but the con here is it is repetitive. Hostel here is expensive, 1,50,000 for accommodation and 73,000 for mess for one year So total hostel fees per year is 2,23,000 and 20,000 security deposit.
Admission
I applied for VIT, SRM, MUJ and MANIT Bhopal, and I got admission in all four. VIT is a great college but the main problem is the amount of people in that college, you have a big competition in that college for the same package you are getting in Manipal. SRM, I got 75% scolarship in the srm exam, but still they have a similar issue regarding the student intake, and also drugs, cigarettes are too common in that college which is a bad influence. MANIT Bhopal was my first priority back then but as I visited the college, the campus was not that great compared to others and faculty was least interested in helping students out(as per many if my seniors) The admission process in MUJ is pretty simple, either you give the Manipal Entrance Test, or you can have direct admission if you have percentage of atleast 85 in all subjects (my case)
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 1-20, by which I mean that for every 20 students per class there is a mentor assigned to them, which looks into all kinds of matters the student needs help in, may it be attendance, cgpa, overall studies, class environment. The exam pattern is simple 30marks internal which includes 10 for assignments, 10 for quizzes(best of 3 are considered), and 10 for either practical( if the subject has that practical) else attendance 30 for a mid term exam. 40 for end term exam, (80 marks exam but the marks are /2) The exams are on an e-pad and written usinf a stencil on their portal (but in class). The exams are not that difficult, everything comes from the provided lectures( also provided in pdfs) you will easily clear the exam if you just listen what the teacher is teaching in the class.
Other Applied Colleges
Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Manipal is better than VIT in case of exposure as college provides various opportunities for international exchanges and such programs, also the student intake is far less in Manipal than VIT so the competition is certainly lesser
Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Manipal is better than Vellore in a certain way, as the student intake per year is certainly less than in VIT for the similar average package offered there is less competition when compared to VIT, also there are student exchange programs which provide ex
